Well, that's frustrating
After a certain amount of frustration last night and this morning regarding not being able to post to LJ, I went to trial-and-error testing, and discovered that I cannot post anything larger than about 1500 words/8500 characters. I'm not exactly sure what the cutoff is, but it's somewhere right around there.
They do mention on their status page that long posts may return errors, so presumably (hopefully) it's either a temporary cap they've implemented to help control server load, or a random glitch that will be fixed. In the meantime, guess I'll be posting fic to AO3 and DW, since I literally cannot post it here.
On that note ... I'm writing a WIP again! Wish me luck. I think the last time was in 2007? Though I make no promises (read at own risk!) I have a pretty good track record for finishing them. If you're the sort of person who likes to read the whole story all on one page, it'll be on AO3 when I'm (hopefully) done.
Title: The Chains That Bind Us - chapter 1 of ??
Rating/Pairing: PG; gen w/background Peter/Elizabeth
Word Count: 4800 (this part)
Summary: "Don't start feeling sorry for the dragon, El. It's a dragon. They're vicious killers." Only not so much, really. Fantasy AU in which Peter's a dragonslayer and Neal's a dragon. MY BRAIN, I DON'T EVEN KNOW.

Ah, show writers, why must you all use the same names?
I don't know much about White Collar, but I do know that Neal would be very fun as a dragon. I think I'll check this out. ;->
And I've been able to post a little over 2000 at around 1:00 pm to my LJ. Just FYI.

I never used to write AUs; I don't know what happened to me ... Well, no, I know exactly what happened to me. SGA fandom happened to me.

Great story. I love Elizabeth and I like how curmudgeonly noble Peter is. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
SGA is like a gateway fandom, isn't it? Soon you'll be writing AUs for everything. :D

And oh wow! Thank you for the link! That picture is perfect. :D I'm actually amazed at how many of Neal's traits and mannerisms map over perfectly onto classic stereotypes of dragonhood. It's hilariously easy to write him this way. I'd wondered if there was already a dragon!Neal AU out there somewhere -- it seemed hard to believe that no one had ever written this before.
ETA: Actually, that picture is disturbingly accurate; I even gave Neal a white underside (I was thinking to make him look like he's wearing a tuxedo or suit). Hee!
