... and a partridge in a pear tree
So somehow, going back and rewatching Jim Byrnes' Wiseguy episodes turned into making a vid about his Wiseguy character, Lifeguard. I still can't quite figure out how that happened.
Also? It's rather challenging to make a vid about a character who is basically a voice on the radio in four out of five episodes. I have lots and LOTS of clips of Lifeguard on the phone, Lifeguard in the communications loft, Lifeguard looking things up on the computer ... not really a whole lot of him actually doing anything, though.
Hmm. Anyway, a few more HL fanfic recs! All but one are older stories on the Seventh Dimension archive. 3 Alexa stories, 2 Richie stories, 1 long gen story.
3 Alexa Stories
Caverns by Cathryn Bauer - (Alexa/Methos) Most writers portray Alexa as infinitely patient and kind, and her relationship with Adam/Methos as utterly smooth and unconflicted. I really loved this more nuanced look at them - her frustration at her condition often spilling over into anger at Adam's attempts to take care of her, and yet, the love and affection is obvious, too.
Keeping Company by
honorh - (gen, with background Alexa/Methos & Amanda/Duncan) While Methos is off in France for "Deliverance", Amanda keeps Alexa company in Athens. This is very cute and sweet.
Personal Affects by Rebecca Ann Brothers - (mostly gen with a little Alexa/Methos) Alexa sees Adam killed. She's horrified and grieving. Obviously there is a certain amount of damage control to be done. I've read several Alexa-learns-about-Adam stories, but this is probably the one I liked best.
2 Richie Stories
Gift of the Magi by Cameron Dial - (gen with a little Duncan/Tessa) LOVE LOVE LOVE this story.
scrollgirl recommended it to me, and I'm so glad; it's an absolutely wonderful, heartwarming-without-being-too-sappy look at Richie's first Christmas with Duncan and Tessa. d'awwwwwww.
Bow Shot by
lferion - (gen with a little Duncan/Methos) Richie and Methos get into a (mostly) friendly archery competition. I loved the character voices and the light, companionable tone of this - they're not exactly the best of friends and it's clear from the beginning that Richie's cockiness is going to get him into trouble, but it's clear that both are enjoying it and learning a little something from it.
1 Long Gen Story
Generations by Cameron Dial - (gen) This takes place in the same continuity with some other stories by the author, but I don't think you need to read those to understand this; at any rate, though it's not the first chronologically, this was the first one in the series that I read, and I really enjoyed it. Joe vanishes during a visit to his niece (Horton's daughter); Amy enlists Methos's help tracking him down. It's a fun, solid action-adventure story that incorporates a number of minor characters from the show.
