See, I do like that sort of thing in general -- I'm fond of stuff all across the sci-fi/fantasy spectrum (though admittedly vampire fiction is a hard sell for me ... and yet some of my favorite fictional characters are vampires, so go figure *g*). So I don't really have that problem with it. But in general, it may not turn out to be my thing; I'll give some of the later episodes a go, and see if it does pick up a bit!
