I can't seem to get off the island
So we're watching Lost again. We just mainlined seasons 4, 5 and up to 6x03 since, um, Saturday. I think I broke something. (We're not quite caught up yet, but we will be tonight.)
1. I totally called Jin not being dead. And I am totally pissed at the show for killing Juliet. Come on, show; can't ANY of the characters be happy? Also, for a minute or two, it looked like we might actually have escaped the Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle of interminable dooooooom. But no.
2. Along those lines, if they don't give Desmond and Penny a happy ending, I will weep. Or maybe just throw things. I've been trying so hard not to fall for them because they have "cannon fodder" written all over them, but I'm failing badly. Desmond is adorable, and I've already thought he's dead at least three times, so I just hope he can manage to not be dead at the end.
3. Miles is another of the newer characters that I've completely fallen for. Snarky little bastards FTW! Don't die, Miles! (Though you probably will; the only people who seem to be totally bulletproof are Kate, Jack and Sawyer, because the triangle of doom JUST WON'T DIE EITHER, and Ben, because I hate him and wish he'd die, so of course he won't.)
4. Finding out that new!Locke=black smoke monster was actually a really cool reveal (though this means Locke is actually dead, which is kinda sad). Evil!Locke is really awesomely creepy, and while I still loathe Ben every time he's onscreen, I am deriving wicked glee from seeing him finally having the tables turned on him and being the puppet rather than the puppetmaster for a change.
5. I find it sad (but really telling, I think) that Sawyer is a much better person, or at least a happier and more well-adjusted person, when he's not around Kate, Jack et al. I'm not necessarily talking about falling in with the Dharma Initiative (that could never have lasted anyway), but stepping into a leadership role, or doing things like trying to rescue Claire. And then he gets around Kate/Jack/Sayid/etc. and turns into a miserable, raging asshole again. WTF, Sawyer? I do think Sawyer and Hurley's friendship is really the most adorable thing, though, and I hope Juliet's death hasn't totally nixed the positive steps he's made.
6. Seeing the characters in the alternate timeline is really a striking demonstration of how much the past five seasons have changed them. I think I was most struck by Jin and Sun, because Jin's one of my favorite characters and I'd totally forgotten what an uptight, sexist douche he used to be.
7. Dear show: if you must keep killing people, can you kill Ben soon, please? Thanks.

Conversely, I really like Ben.

2. Aw, I know. I <3 them so much. And then last year I read some stuff about the actor that made me :(. I won't tell you what it is so as not to cause you to sadface as well. Unless you ask.
3. Miles! <3
4. Locke has always and still does really, really bore me :/ Ben is slightly more interesting, depending on what he does.
5. ITA.
6. Yes! I love seeing their lives, and I so agree about Jin, both before and now. Also Claire, oh my god, WHY SO STUPID. Her parallel scenes? I couldn't handle them.

2. No! I don't want to know! *plugs ears and goes LALALALA loudly*
4. I waffle on Locke. He's never been one of my favorites, but sometimes I like him and sometimes I pity him and sometimes I just wish someone would kill him (which I guess someone finally did). Ben has really annoyed me from the beginning, though; I have this knee-jerk reaction to emotional manipulation and he really, really pushes that button.
6. Claire is one of many characters on that show who makes me want to smack her in the face with a salmon on a regular basis. *g*
Oh! I also forgot to mention what might be my absolute favorite scene in the entire half-series we just watched: Hurley's Q&A with Chang regarding his time travel cover story, which might quite possibly qualify him for the Worst Time Traveler Ever award. "So you fought in the Korean War?" "There's ... no such thing."

And since I don't have a Lost icon (yet) I took the Impala :D
