Story status update

Let's see ... here's where I currently stand:

I'm done with my story for [livejournal.com profile] gateverse_remix and it's posted and ready to go live on July 1. Finished my Dresden Files story for [livejournal.com profile] summersteam (it needs the 2nd round of corrections, though) and I'm still working on my other Summersteam story. (Friggin' pirates, won't do what they're told ...)

I'm updating Ghost in the Machine again. Yes, it was supposed to be a Halloween story. *snorts*

I also need to finish [livejournal.com profile] susnn's SGA story (about half done) and [livejournal.com profile] derry667's SPN story (not really started yet, more like brainstormed), at which point I will be DONE with all challenge, prompt and ficathon stories. *pant pant pant*

Of course, by that point I will probably have gotten myself sucked into half a dozen more ...

There are several unfinished SGA stories sitting around my hard drive, some of which I've posted teasers here. I'm well overdue to do something horrible to Rodney. *grin* Both of my recent long SGA stories -- "Fading Sun" and "Ghost" -- happen to be John-whumpers, and I prefer to alternate between the boys with my h/c. (I'm equal opportunity.) Actually, I'd like to do something Ronon-centric in the near future too.

And at some point I need to start making serious headway on my original fiction too ...

Sweet! I like Shep whumping, but I'm really partial to Rodney whumping, myself. I love your fic and can't wait see what horrible things you do to him. YES!!

Uh, yeah. I'm cheering for injuries and horrible things to happen. I'm a sick, sick woman, aren't I? LOL

Me too, me too. Why do we always hurt the characters we love?!!

I don't know, but I'm glad to know it's not just me. *g* I've been watching that new show on ABC, Traveler. I really like the show, even though last week's episode was a bit of disappointment. In the preview, it looked liked one of the characters, my favorite, was going to get shot. In the episode, it happened right at the beginning and turned out to just be a dream. I was so disppointed, that the whole rest of the episode was a let down. Yep, I'm definitely a sick woman. LOL I just hope that shows ends up sticking around for a while. It took a couple of episodes for me to really get into it, but now I'm loving it and would really love to see some h/c fic for it.

You know, I watched the first episode and a half (or so) of Traveler, but it just didn't interest me enough to keep watching. If it sticks around for more than a few episodes, I might give it another shot -- these days, I'm really reluctant to start watching a show until it's got a half a season or so under its belt, because it's just too frustrating to start liking something good and then have it die an untimely death.

[identity profile] les342.livejournal.com 2007-06-23 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That's probably a good idea. It took a few episodes, but I've really gotten into Traveler. They cut down this first season to eight episodes and no one's said if there will be more. It will probably get canned now, since I'm loving it.

And I saw a commerical for this new show that's going to be on this fall. It's called Viva Laughlin. The commercial didn't give me much idea about the concept of the show, but Hugh Jackman is in it, so it caught my attention. Then I saw the commercial again and went looking for more info on it. The CBS website describes it as part drama, part thriller, part musical. That, along with a couple of short, little clips someone posted on YouTube (Hugh Jackman sings my favorite Rolling Stones song Sympathy for the Devil in one of them which is TOTALLY FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! I love that song!) really had my interest piqued. I'm just afraid it will get canceled after probably 3 or 4 episodes. It sounds like it's very unique, plus it's not another cop show, doctor show, lawyer show, or reality show. It's probably doomed from the start. Either that or I'm just being way too cynical. *g*

*snort* But they just ask for it, being so cute and caring about each other so much when they're hurt and all...

LOL! Of the two, I'm a wee bit more partial to Rodney-whumping, maybe because it's so easy to find Sheppard whumping fics but Rodney's a little tougher. On the other hand, when I write them, Sheppard has this annoying tendency to throw himself in harm's way and get hurt even if I'm not planning on it. Silly Sheppard. *g*

LOL! Equal-opputunity whumpers are rare and should be treasured. As a reader, I like my h/c pread between those boys too. And I shudder to think what you might do to a big strapping lad like Ronon.

derry667's SPN story (not really started yet, more like brainstormed)

It's all good. Whump Rodney, angst Dean, smack Sam or either John around too - I'm easy to please. ;-)

LOL! That's the trouble with Ronon -- you whump him, he just gets right back up and keeps going. Doesn't feel a thing.

[identity profile] derry667.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't know if it's possible to whump (or angst) him harder than he was in the "Sateda" episode and he just kept going - only passing out for a little nap at the very end. ;-)

So... um.... good luck!

Oh, Rodney whump! Yay! I like all your stories, including the Sheppard whump ones, but I'm rather partial to Rodney whumping (as anyone who's read my own stories will know!!).

I wonder what nastiness is waiting to befall him now...?!

The third season has totally jossed my two main Rodney-whump stories that I'd been working on! One got done in by McKay & Mrs. Miller, the other by Tao. Not that I really MIND, because seeing it on the screen was so lovely. But now they've done my "team gets a perfect Rodney and wants the old one back" story, and my Rodney Ascension story, so I need to go back to the drawing board and come up with something new.

[identity profile] susnn.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Wheee.... my story is still on the docket. :-)

I think Ronan was more whumped in Common Ground than in Sateda. He had come to an equilibrium with the loss of his people, that is, it was over and done. In Common Ground he was faced with a fresh loss, and that of a person who arguably gave him back his life as someone other than an automaton living to avoid dying. Well, and get some revenge on the wraith. Not to mention that in Sateda he could and was *doing something!* In Common Ground, he watched. So not Ronan.

SO, the story.... front burner? back burner? counter next to the stove? Not that I'm in any hurry, mind..... riiiiight. :-)

Ronon. I knew that. Fingers Mcfumbles strikes again.

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2007-06-21 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno ... I still think that what he went through in Sateda was worse -- the physical injuries, being forced to confront what had happened Melena again, and losing the team and probably thinking that he'd never see them again. But I hadn't really thought about how incredibly hard Common Ground must have been for him.

The story of yours that I'm working on is the Sunday one -- is that okay?

[identity profile] susnn.livejournal.com 2007-06-23 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, hard indeed. In Sateda, he had the expectation that at least he hadn't lost his team, although the team had lost him, if that makes sense. And he was on familiar ground being made a runner again, although "stand and fighter" is probably more accurate this time around. In Common Ground, he was losing another person who was important to him, at the hand of a wraith, no less but in circumstances where he could win - if only he knew where to go to fight. And he had lots of time to think on his helplessness. Although, he's probably pretty good at accepting what he can't change even as he inwardly rages.

Story, story...

Hmm... that's the explanation for Rodney's "best friend" comment one as opposed to the "Rodney and we find out just what Sheppard does while on Atlantis" one? I'll admit to fondness for the second concept but, hey, if the muses want the first, go for it. I'm sure I'll enjoy every word of it. :-)
