argosy wrote my sticksandsnark story, and I started grinning within a couple of paragraphs and didn't stop for all 5000 words (which was so satisfyingly long and yet much too short! *clings*). I really adore understated, outsider-POV romance, and this was just perfect. Seriously, even if your reaction to the idea of Rodney/Teyla is "Rodney/Teyla what?", this is SO MUCH FUN, with a wonderfully adorkable John POV and all the characters being so, well, them.

With Friends Like These (John Will Never Make The Kessel Run In Less Than Twelve Parsecs) [PG/5400 wds]

Teyla and Rodney are dorkily crushing on each other, John is dorkily crushing on a spaceship (the level of dorkitude here has to be seen to be believed), and ....

He [John] took a moment to be grateful for Ronon, who was apparently the only member of his team older than twelve.

His warm feeling lasted almost six minutes, until Ronon started an oatmeal fight with four of the Marines and an anthropologist.

argosy used two of my prompts, "Teyla doing cool stuff with technology", and "John being a supportive friend" (though the level of actual supportiveness is debatable, because it's John). I love seeing Rodney's smart-people kink turned on Teyla for a change, and the whole thing is full of a wonderful, warm, silly Team Dork vibe that made me very, very happy.
