Very sad news - Don S. Davis died yesterday.

In memoriam,

sgatazmy posted a call for Hammond fic recs on

stargategenrec. Does anyone know of any good gen fics to rec over there? I don't think I've ever read a story featuring Hammond (gen or otherwise), but I know they must be out there.

Also, it's that time of the month again - time to sign up for July reccing on

stargateficrec! For the last few months,

trystings has been very capably handling the Sheppard & McKay friendship category. Does anyone want to take it for July and give her a break? The sign-up post is here - you will need to rec four stories, and they can be stories that have been recced at ficrec in other categories, as long as they haven't been recced before in this particular category.

(Obviously,

trystings, if you still want it, this is not an attempt to snatch it away from you! But I know how tiring it is to keep reccing the same category for several months in a row.)

I know I've read some Hammond fics. Even if they didn't focus on him, they definitely had a great Hammond. At the very least, we can quickly write some Hammond fics. LOL

Maybe a comment ficathon? I'm probably a terrible person to host it, though, since it's been so long since I've seen the early seasons of SG-1 that I doubt if I could write anything for him! And for all I know, there may be a dozen such ficathons already going on in SG-1 fandom.

well, we got three recs up already, so I think we can wait it out. Though a comment fic could be fun. I have yet to do one and have no idea how they work.

Oh, that's so sad! He was pretty young. And apparently he was an artist (http://www.donsdavisart.com/index.php) too, and a good one at that.

I know -- I was really startled by this, because he's certainly not old enough that you'd expect it. But apparently he'd been in poor health for a while.

I was just looking through his art from the links in the obit at Gateworld. I had no idea he was an artist.

Oh, wow. That's too sad! He was still young.

That is very, very sad news, of Don S. Davis' passing. Sixty-five years is much too young.

That's really sad and a little scary for me - my dad turned 65 in March. That's seems so young.

I read Kelley's Heroes (http://www.tthfanfic.com/Story-12734/jrabbit+Kelley+s+Heroes.htm) on Twisting The Hellmouth and it was a really good Faith and General George gen story. He was the one person that appreciated her for her.
