Hey...

Anybody on my friend list want to sign up to rec Sheppard and McKay friendship for [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec for April? I've been doing the category ever since its inception, but as my recs are getting later and later, I think I'm going to take a month or two off from formally reccing, and I'd hate to see the category lie fallow. You only have to come up with four stories to rec in a month. The list of stories already rec'd (not including this month, which isn't archived yet) is here.

With the amount of fic I read, I could probably take over from you for April. I'm a dunce at reccing though, i.e. the part where I have to elaborate on the "me like", it's usually the thing that keeps me from reccing. Is it a once-a-week rec?

Ok, consider me your (temporary) replacement for April - May. I'm sure I can find eight McKay/Sheppard friendship fics among my vast amount of tags that haven't been recced yet and the write-ups will be good practice. (Is it me or are gen fics harder and harder to find? Seems like every cute friendship fic ends with a blowjob out of nowhere nowadays.)

Done. All signed-up.

But [livejournal.com profile] sga_genficathon in 12 hours or so -- so at least for a couple of weeks, there will be lots of fresh new genfic to read!

Oh thank god. Nothing against slash (au contraire), but I feel the need for a good gen story.

p.s. your icon is adorable!

Eeee, thank you! Made it myself. *is very proud*

Hi, a mail to let you know about my reccing (mis)fortunes. :)

I signed up for another month of John & Rodney Friendship on [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec, but something went wrong with my posting access (as in 'no posting access' and zero response from the mods) so I'm afraid there aren't going to be any Rodney / John Friendship recs in June.

I found it quite a challenge to be honest. Most of the stories I had in mind, had been recc'd already or upon rereading teetered on the brink of pre-slash (that happened quite often actually :). Whether it is because the author has also written slash and it colors my perception, or because I didn't read the signs the first time around, but a lot of stories were decidedly slashier than I remembered!).

At any rate, I found it quite a challenge to find well-written gen stories with the focus on friendship (focus on friendship being the operative word here). There are plenty of course, but I don't want to rec the same authors over and over again. So even if the mods get back to me, I will probably bow out after June and let someone else take a turn.

At the time you said you were looking for a replacement for April and May. Would you like the category back? Or would you perhaps consider posting another appeal to your flist? You will reach a far larger group of people than I will and I would hate to see the category go dormant.

Thanks for letting me have a go at this. It was a fun experience!

Hi! Quick note. I got my [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec posting access, so I will be reccing for June after all. Yay.

There's also nothing that says it has to be gen, as long as you note the pairing(s) in your rec.

Yes, I didn't see anything in the user info either - but I wasn't sure, so I thought I'd better play it safe. Some readers might look at the Friendship Category as the last stronghold of Gen, and I didn't want to upset anyone. But I may sway towards pairings in June if I really run out of recs, I'm quite the happy pre-slasher myself. :)

But ... yeah, it's hard to come up with recs, isn't it?

Seriously, I had no idea it would be this hard! :) So many great stories, but it's either too much focus on the whump, too much slash, too much team, or I love the story but don't find it well-written enough to live up to the "Why this MUST be read" (that sentence is truly the death knell of my reccing abilities. I'm more of a "Why I think you might enjoy this" type of person *g*).

July is SGA premiere month! MORE John and Rodney! *squeaks*

*meep!* 11 July! Less than four weeks! I can't wait.

*recs on*
