I, um. Signed up for sgabigbang! But ... as half of a writing team! I got to talking to naye about it, and she was kind of tempted too, but 20,000 words each sounded much more do-able than 40,000 ... so here we are.

I wasn't going to sign up for any more ficathons this spring! What's wrong with me? It's a disease!

Now that I'm no longer in rabid spoiler-avoidance mode, I moseyed over to Mallozzi's blog and what did I find but these:

I assume that the second layout indicates instructions to the set-builders and does not ACTUALLY mean that his bathroom is right outside the gateroom, though...

LOL! I totally missed this! A rubber ducky??? I just want to know what scene this could possibly be connected to?

And yeah, the mutlipurpose room is just where it is in the set, it does not mean McKay's bathroom is next to the gateroom. :)

I *think* the rubber ducky is just in there to help indicate that it's a bathtub. It's hard to imagine what scene could *possibly* take place in a bathroom -- and just our luck it'll get cut. Heh.

I will just say that if one day, when they're all tired and sweaty and arguing in each other's faces, and then Rodney claps his hands, says "All right, guys! I never wanted this to get out, but--" and he presses a blue button and reveals his secret hot tub under the gate room, and "--I think it's time we took a break." -- I will not be surprised.

LOL! This is total fanservice. There were some conversations going on awhile back on his blog - I don't know whether you caught them or not. People kept asking him about the bathrooms in Atlantis, and he finally said something like "there must be a lot of fanfic written about the Atlantis bathrooms." Sorry - I don't remember the exact quote. But I can't help but think that this was put in because of that. :)

Ha! As someone who actually DID write a fic about the Atlantis bathrooms, I am very amused. :D I wonder if they're actually planning a scene, or if he did up the setting layouts just to mess with people's minds?

Well, I was just reluctant to get drawn into a long story that I have to finish by a certain date, since I've been more focused on my original writing lately. I might end up writing something that long anyway; it's the deadline that worries me! But at least this way I have a partner in crime misery.

The only thing that makes me cautious in my hope for this scene (having had a little while to process it) is that earlier during the filming of Season 4 JM posted up a layout of Rodney's room (with terranium!) but the scene never appeared... (unless my memory is failing me and there was a scene in his room this season? I don't remember one).

Here's hoping that the bath scene makes it and isn't a joke or gets cut!

As for the rubber duckie...well, it could be the sort of thing Rodney has in his bath, but personally I hope it doesn't appear. Well, unless it's meant to be funny, then it depends... Oh ****, I can't decide if I want the duckie or not!!! How sad is that?!!!

Btw, in mega awe of you joining up the big bang thingie...in awe of all of the authors who have, whether solo or as duos! Me, my longest fic was just over 20,000 - and that was more of a fluke than anything else! I have one that jayne_perry will hopefully be co-writing with me that could be much longer, but that could take us a year (or more) to finish!! I don't handle deadlines well... Your sga_genficathon nearly did me in! Not that's going to stop me signing up for it if you run another one!!

Yay for more gen writers at the Big Bang. I've been saving up a plot bunny specially and can't wait to see what everyone's come up with. Although I have 20,000 words of a Torchwood story to write before then, but I'm not thinking about that :)

Thank you so much for the picture links - I'd managed to missed them, but they're so cool! And I can now add duck!fic to my silly fic list (which up to now consisted of sheep!fic and cheese!fic. I'm branching out) - it's amazing how much you can write based on one tiny squiggle.

We can but hope that we'll get more of the bathroom - they seemed to have picked up on a lot of fanfic themes this season, here's hoping we get more in the next!
