... oh dear. Maybe, to be fair, he's simply struggling with a very different sort of story than the kind he's gotten used to telling. One of these days I'll do a long post about my first foray into fantasy and all the mistakes I made -- many of which I think are problems in this book (too many characters, overly ambitious ideas for my ability to pull them off, etc).
