I really feel *terrible* about this, but...

You know how I offered awhile back to send in-character Valentines to people? I really shouldn't have offered ten of them; two or three would have been a much better idea. I'm just finding them incredibly difficult -- some aren't so bad, but trying to get myself into a headspace where I can imagine RONON buying and sending anybody a card for anything ... and god forbid coming up with something he'd write in it ... I've been wracking my brains trying to make it work, but I just can't. (And three different people wanted Ronon sending a card to someone! *cries*)

I'm really, really sorry! I'm just much better at doing fic than this sort of project, apparently. I finished four of them, but the rest ... my brain is melting, and I've kinda gotten to the point where I'm not enjoying myself anymore.

The people whose cards I finished are [livejournal.com profile] trystings, [livejournal.com profile] army_rat, [livejournal.com profile] elanor_me, and [livejournal.com profile] leesa_perrie. For the rest of you ... would you settle for a little ficlet using your character request as a prompt? I would like to give you something, since I promised I would, but I think that might be more up my alley than what I was trying to do with the cards. And those I can probably finish by Valentines, whereas the cards might take me 'till next winter. :D

ETA: There is now a Valentine's ficlet in the comments, located here.

For Ronon get a food wrapper and write "Hey", on it. One address and a stamp later and you're done. :)

Ronon wouldn't write anything in the card. He'd pick out something without looking at it (looking around to make sure no one's watching him), stick it in the envelope, not even write the name of the person it's for on the outside and then leave it someplace hidden so it would be very hard to find.

A month later, Deidre or whoever finds the card in the difficult-to-find place where Ronon left it for her, takes it out of the unmarked envelope and reads the cover: "To My Loving Husband on Valentine's Day..."

Don't worry about it! You don't owe us anything; it was kind of you to offer, and it shouldn't be stressing you out.

Perhaps some other time. :) I've got enough to chew on with the prompt (in a "What am I going to write for this genre which I chose so I have nobody to blame but myself?" sense) for a Certain Fest, which I am very much looking forward to.

Ronon rips out a piece of lined paper from a spiral binder, scrawls Happy Valentine's Day on it(because that's what McKay said it should say), draws a really intricate and beautiful sword skewering a heart, and tacks it up on Keller's door. He fails to see the romance in the gesture, but McKay said she would expect something from him. And now we see why I don't write :-)

ah! it's OK (if I was on your to send list)
and I agree with bironic, its was a kind offer and you have the right to withdraw it if is doing you more harm than good.

[identity profile] ditraveler.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
of course! I'm sure of that, but not much fun on that, I like the awkwardness of cultural clashing.

Anyway, thanks for the offer! it was a sweet idea

Ronon would offer whoever is to receive a knife.

Make one out of tinfoil (and say it's real or don't say anything and leave the receiver guessing), put in an envelope and mail :) My mom - the queen of tinfoil wrapping for giving me the idea.

Bironic put it perfectly :-) And as someone who constantly asks for prompts and fails to follow up, I 100% understand where you're coming from, so no hard feelings :-)

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
Don't stress. I don't think I was on the list because there were more than 10 when I looked and so I don't think I left a request but if I am. then your fics are just as good :)

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
I snagged it from somebody else so take, credit them. You know the deal. However Mrs Slocombe is mine and I love it cause she's having a leetle tipple :)

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

I also saw a postcard this morning that immediately made me think of your prompt, so if you want, send me your address by LJ-PM today and I think (hope, pray - it's sort of depending on friend's schedule) I'll have enough time to mail it to you before we leave. :) *Eeee's some more*.

[identity profile] fitzwiggity.livejournal.com 2008-02-07 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. I'll take a ficlet. Those are always worth reading. ;)
