kristen999 -- ask me for my "top five" list of anything you like, and I'll list my top five of that thing or things.
(With the caveat that if you ask me for my top five somethings on two different days, you'll probably get two different answers. *g*)

#1. Animals
1. Dog, because I've always really enjoyed their company.
2. Raven, because they're smart, and tough, and fascinating in myth; and I love the way that they not only survive, but thrive on co-existence with human beings.
3. Fox, because we often see them in the yard, and it's always a treat.
4. Least Weasel, because Hubby and I agreed a long time ago that this is the cutest name for an animal EVER.
5. Dragon. 'nuff said.

Top five quotes from Red Dwarf (just coz your recent comments got me in the mood for some more "Boyz from the Dwarf!")
no subject
-"Would you describe the accused as a friend?"
"Nah, I'd describe the accused as a git."
-"Nothing wrong with dog's milk. Lasts longer than any other type of milk, dog's milk."
"Why?"
"Because no bugger'll drink it."
- (about the pyramids) "But how did they move such massive, massive pieces of stone without technology?"
"They had whips, Rimmer. Massive, massive whips."
-"Like all who stand before the Inquisitor, your judge shall be ... yourself."
"Oh smeg."
-"So let me get this straight. You want to fly on a magic carpet to see the King of the Potato People and plead with him for your freedom, and you're telling me you're completely sane?"
I might have to get back to you on the first one; other than the quote on your friends page, I'm sorta drawing a blank!

So, I'll give you an easy one: top five movies of the last five years.
no subject
-Finding Nemo
-Gangs of New York
-Identity
-Cars
-The Two Towers (oddly, my least favorite of the books, but probably my favorite of the movies!)

2. Top five things you like to see in slash fic (could be same)
no subject
- good characterization that's true to how I see the characters
- plots that are fresh, unexpected and have twists I don't anticipate
- scientific and medical plausibility
- good technical skill at writing (i.e. accurate spelling & grammar, sentences that don't stop me in my tracks with their clunkiness)
- solid knowledge of canon
no subject
Top five fanfic peeves, which are not the reverse of the above 'likes'. (I'm just curious because you write a lot of good fic that I enjoy...sort of a 'what might be ahead for us'. *g*)
no subject
- characters calling each other by the wrong names (although my top peeve in that area actually became canon ... Rodney calling John by his first name. It always sounded so wrong to me! But it's canon now!)
- inappropriate weeping, clinging or apologizing (inappropriate for the character, that is)
- Ancient technology as a magic fix for any problem (in the defense of fanfic writers, sometimes it does work in the plot, and the show does it too!)
- blatant mistakes with astronomical distance and/or how basic technology works in the Stargateverse (i.e. having the jumper fly between planets in different solar systems, having people pass both ways through an open stargate)
- Zelenka's supposed crush on Elizabeth (I think this has become a one of my big peeves not because it's problematic in a few stories, but because so many writers use it, and I don't personally see any sign of it in canon; it's just a fic cliche from where I stand.)

top five sporting moments
top five fic crossovers (whether it's already done or not)
no subject
The crossovers one is insanely difficult as well, because I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of crossovers I've ever actually read. I can tell you what my absolute "favorite" crossover of all time is, in the "oh god I can't believe someone wrote this" sense: Gomer Pyle/Dragonball Z. I was browsing through the crossovers section in ff.net and I may have laughed for a full minute when I saw that. (No, I didn't read it.)
