Traders songvid: Still the Same

Yay for micro-fandoms! (or: yet another reason why my NaNo novel isn't getting done)

Fandom: Traders
Title: Still the Same
Artist: Bob Seger
Size/format: 37 Mb, WMV

I've wanted to use this song for a Traders vid ever since seeing the first few episodes; it just seemed like the perfect song for their lifestyle. Since I know most people on my flist don't watch this show, I've made it as spoiler-free as possible -- basically an introduction to the series. It really is a good show; unsurprisingly, I started watching for David Hewlett (and, seriously, if you think Rodney is adorable, his character in this one is like Rodney with his prickly outer shell stripped away) but it's really quite a good show -- fast-paced, smart and fascinating. No clips beyond early season 3 (since that's as far as we've seen yet).

Oh, yay!

I'm still at the beginning of season 3 but I love this show. :D

*ponders*

I suspect that Rodney would be more like Grant - if a little less tangential - if he didn't expect to be hurt so much. I think they both get hurt relatively easily, but much of Rodney's personality is a result of his defense system. Bless their little socially inept hearts. :D

Have you read Instruction Set (http://spike21.livejournal.com/286916.html) by [livejournal.com profile] spike21? It has amazing Grant-voice.

Oh, nice vid! ...I admit for watching it only for the Hewlett, but the rest of it was fun, too! (Though he really is adorable with that beard.) Plus, I scored on my Canadian Actor Bingo, since main guy who's borderline manic in a lot of shots is the same person who played Felger (the SG-1 fanboy in "The Other Guys" & "Avenger 2.0") over on SG-1. ^_^

I've never heard of it, though it does have a US release date. Is it on cable, or must one get DVDs?

Thank you!! I *love* Traders and I'm always looking out for new Traders vids. I have seen every episode (seasons 2-5 thanks to the generosity of others). Pity they don't seem inclined to release further episodes to DVD.

Yay Traders! Speaking of that, I got a little thrill over seeing Bruce Gray in Evan Almightly this past weekend. WHEE!

I love Traders! And Grant Jansky is just adorable ;-)

I don't think you can be human and be mean to Grant! It would be like kicking a puppy. He just wants people to like him!!

Hm... You know, I have season 4 & 5. Would you like to borrow them?

Neat! Traders is a great show and this vid is a nice showcase of their "day to day" moments. Liked it lots.

BTW - in some ways, I've always kinda thought the character Marty (the guy who played Felger in SG-1) was in many ways the equivalent of Rodney in Traders. Y'know, shamelessly abrasive but great at what he does and most of his co-workers love him despite his difficult personality (underneath their snarking at him). Grant is David Hewlett's gentler but even more socially inept version of a geek, but I don't see the parallels to Rodney in him because I see them in Marty instead.
