A request
Okay, this hasn't actually *happened* yet, so maybe I'm borrowing trouble by even mentioning it, but I thought I'd say something now.
With the last part of SGA Season 3 airing now, I'm kinda locking myself down into rabid spoiler-avoidance mode. And I just wanted to request if people can please avoid mentioning anything you may have read or heard about the rest of the season or the next one in comments on my blog.
I don't mind what you do elsewhere and I'm not gonna go all "spoiler police" on you (I've had bouts of that and I think I'm over it) but for just the next few weeks, I'd really like to remain spoiler-free for the remaining episodes, and discussion of certain spoilers has become so rampant that it's getting difficult to avoid. I don't even want to hear general stuff, like if anything's been confirmed or if you're depressed or elated over the news -- PLEASE. Let me remain in my nonspoilery little blog bubble for another 4 weeks ... then we can all talk about it as much as we want.
Like I said, it hasn't happened yet and most people on my f-list are pretty good about locking spoilers anyway. But with new people coming in lately, I just wanted to make that request. Like I said, I'm not telling you what to do on your blog, just asking you to respect my spoiler-free space on mine.
(Spoilers for episodes up to the most current one airing in Canada are fair game, however.)
Thank you!

In MY fic, Ronon was going to be possessed by Basil Fawlty, Radek by Manuel, Elizabeth was going to be Sybil, Rodney was going to be the chef, Teyla the maid, and John was goign to be there too, and they were going to turn Atlantis into a hotel on the English Riviera!!!
Foiled, foiled, by your spoilers!!!
(Actually the hotel thing isn't a bad idea for a crackfic....*ruminates*)

All purely subject to rumor and speculation, of course.

You know, Rodney/Whale is an actual pairing in fanfic-land ... even *before* Echoes came out.

Maybe that's where the idea that Rodney's a fat slob was born...

(Thus proving that SGA IS "Fawlty Towers: The Pegasus Generation")

And then Lucius the young undercover cop comes to stay, asks for a single room, then "No, make it a double. I feel lucky," and waves a bottle of the herb juice.
Then, of course, Teyla, as Polly, must inform him that Atlantis only seems to have singles.

Polly! That's her name! I got as far as 'Connie Booth' but couldn't remember the character.
Rodney refuses to cook for 'Gourmet Night' because Ronon insists that duck a la orange be on the menu.
Radek gets a pet, which he insists is 'genuine Pegasus guinea pig'. It finally ends up the vat of blue jello when Woolsey, the IOA hotel inspector, turns up.

Then later, Elizabeth flounces out of the city on the day that SG-1 and Gen. O'Neill are due for a visit, and Ronon dresses Teyla up in a red top and dark brown wig and tells everyone that "Elizabeth" is too ill to socialize and makes them all wave to her from the door of the infirmary!

I love the experience of not having a clue what's coming next. It heightens the thrills for me.

Yes, EXACTLY! I much prefer to go into a show, book or movie totally blind. In fact, sometimes when I'm reading a suspenseful book I'll actually cover the next page with my hand to keep my eyes from skipping ahead.
It's impossible to totally avoid spoilers on the Internet, but with the end of the season so close now, I'm gonna do my darnedest.

It's a far, far better experience for me if I don't know, though. And then, too, when I get spoiled by accident, most of what sticks in my head is the "aaargh!" moment of finding out (x) spoiler, rather than the actual experience of watching the episode.

I was going to post about what
Kind of tricky being someone who loves spoilers and being serounded by people who don't.

I was very tempted to read the discussion about "Meridien" vs. "The Tao of Rodney" in your journal, but I stopped myself. I really want to see that episode without knowing anything about it. Sigh. The wait isn't too much longer now: just another week until SciFi starts up again.

And you probably don't want to read that discussion in my LJ 'till you see the episode. It is *awfully* tempting sometimes and some of the worst spoilers I've gotten are because I just couldn't say no to myself and wait to read someone's post on something I hadn't seen yet. And then I feel like a giant dork because I have only myself to blame. :)
