Finished
les342's ficathon story tonight. Darn thing is 22K words long. WHY FOR THE LOVE OF RODNEY CAN I NOT WRITE SHORT???
Okay, now that Lesley's story is off the table, here's what I'll be working on in December and the new year:
-
sheppard_hc Secret Santa story
I have my prompt, obviously, but I haven't really figured out where to take the prompt, so this one still needs some brainstorming. And has to be done by the end of December, obviously.
- Christmas story
About half done, maybe 2/3 done.
- Dark-ish AU
This one is at least half done, and that part is beta'd, which means I owe it to my betas, if not to myself, to get the early parts cleaned up, start posting it, and finish the dratted thing.
- Ghost in the Machine
See above. I seriously stalled out on one particular plot point that I really don't know how to write. But it's pivotal to the whole story. I intend to put some serious work into this one.
- The other ficathon stories
I'm now almost entirely through with the ones that I had ideas for at the get-go; now I'm down to the ones that are, for me, "hard" stories to write (very different from what I normally write, or something I'm not sure if I can pull off, or whatever). Except for one of them, which I'm *probably* going to roll into one of the above stories and make it part of the plot of that one.
It feels very good to actually *finish* one of the stories that I'm supposed to be working on, though. Ever since mid-October, I've felt like I was spinning my wheels, writing bits and pieces of a dozen stories without ever finishing anything, or else writing ones like the AU that were fun, but totally tangential to the stories that I feel as if I "should" be working on. I feel like I'm back on track now. *smiles*
Also, it's after 2 a.m. and I really must sleep...

It's wonderful - loved the "slowing down of motion bit". I think it's a bit biased towards Rodney and showcases a lot of the Hewlett expressions that he's given Rodney. But hey, I love John and Rodney unashamedly so I don't mind :)
I love the moments you picked - especially from Season 1 as it's been a while since I've since any of those eps.

Excuse me, I'm done having my fangirl moment now, so I'll just take my overly caffeinated self and go away and leave you alone now. And just in case you haven't read the email yet, I did give you more coherent and constructive feedback in the email. LOL

It's unfortunate that Carson didn't get to DO more in the story. I guess you can be either running around doing things, or badly whumped, but not really both at once! (Unless you're Sheppard, where normal rules don't apply...) He's a lot more, erm, active in the "Running" sequel I'm working on, although it may be a while before that one's finished.
