TV shows question

So, my previous meme post has got me curious about this ...

What TV shows do you own on DVD? If any?

Me, I have:
- SGA (obviously)
- Forever Knight, seasons 1 & 2
- Sentinel, season 1
- Dead Like Me, seasons 1 & 2
- Gargoyles, seasons 1 & 2
- MacGyver, season 2
- Night Court, season 1

I just bought Supernatural S1, but haven't received it yet. I also have assorted random single discs that I've picked up in discount bins or other sources -- various anime, one disc of SG-1 season 2, and such. Also, I obtained a *ton* of Blake's 7 on VHS, which we've been happily working our way through. (Cheesy '70s BBC f/x! The horror! *grin*)

[identity profile] with-apostrophe.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm ok ....

I've discovered just how faulty my memory can be. So let's start off with....

8 Seasons of SG-1 (S9 isn't out in R2 box set yet, and how did I forget that I had to buy a whole new piece of furniture to house them?)
1 Season of SGA (when oh when do we get S2 in box set?)
7 Seasons of The West Wing (everything)
1 Season of Due South (1st)

Various things featuring Joe Flanigan.... some of which are not worth the film they were filmed on.... 'Man Made' anyone?

Oh yeah - 'Traders' season 1 is currently swimming across the Atlantic to me - and taking its time I can tell you! See, I love the Hewlett too!

And I'd love to have all seasons of Deep Space Nine, but they are so expensive!

[identity profile] leenys.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Check at your local Walmart, they have the DS9 sets for a more reasonable price, much better than the 139.00 they've been selling for until recently...

Kam :)

[identity profile] with-apostrophe.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly my local WalMart is on the wrong side of the Atlantic!
DVD prices are disgusting here in Britain although the DS9 original prices seem to be about the same. I know in Canada buying SGA S1 was less in $CAN, than it was in £GB, and $CAN are worth exactly half of of £GB!

[identity profile] leenys.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. LOL!!! Oh come on, fly on over! The original DS9 prices were outrageous, I've yet to see anything to compare that isn't some sort of 15 dvd set. Nuts.

Well, shoot. Best I can say then would be to do what you already know, and scope the internet. If it makes you feel better, I can't afford the decreased price dvd! Can the episodes be downloaded, maybe?

K :)

[identity profile] with-apostrophe.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll just keep renting them over the Internet. I'm not working at the moment so buying's not an option, and I keep on exceeding my download rate. I have to be very careful now.....

[identity profile] with-apostrophe.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I stopped watching when Ray V became Ray K. It actually holds up pretty well, but bizzarely the pilot episode isn't included in season 1. Of course, it helps that Paul Gross is still as Canadian and gorgeous as ever....

[identity profile] angw.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I have thoroughly too many TV shows on DVD. Some of it I blame on not being able to see them on TV in NZ, others are shows that I really liked but were cancelled. I have quite a network of family and friends who 'borrow' my DVD's.

S1 Supernatural (not in NZ yet), S1-9 Stargate SG1, S1 SGA, Miracles, S1-3 Mutant X, S1-3 Dead Zone, Firefly, S1-4 The pretender, S1 NCIS, S1 Seaquest, S1 JAG, S1 Prison break, S1-5 Remington Steele, S1-5 Andromeda, S1-4 Farscape, Black books, Space above and beyond, American Gothic, S1-2 BSG, Odyssey 5, S1-2 The 4400, S1-2 LOST and a freebie S1 of Quantum leap.

Okay that's entirely too scary.

[identity profile] angw.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
That is scary.

Speaking of 80's I'm just waiting for the next TV series to be remade as another series or pop up as a movie. There's a Transformer movie soon so I think the A team must be next.

[identity profile] kodiak-bear.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Our DVD collection is spotty but we've kind ran out of room LOL. I really want to finish up the shows we start collecting.

We've got...

Star Trek TNG, s 1 and 2
X-Files, s 2 and 4
Farscape, s 1, 2, 3 and half of 4 (really need to finish that one!)
House, M.D. , s 1
Stargate SG-1, s 1-6. don't plan on 7-10.
SGA, s1 (will buy 2 if they ever release it!)
Simpsons s?? those are hubbies, I have no idea what seasons
Red Dwarf, s 1-8

There's a lot of tv shows we enjoy watching but haven't gotten the DVD's. I'd love to get BSG (original and new), Northern Exposure for sure, but I've watched all of Babylon 5 from netflix, A-Team, some Remington Steele, ST: TOS, on and on LOL.

about half our dvd collection is tv shows but then we've got a ton of movies. Our cabinet is full. Still our oldest asked for House season 2 for christmas and I'm putting some of my 'missing' volumes on the list too. :)

[identity profile] bbuttercup.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's see... I have:

SG1, seasons 1-9
SGA, season 1, impatiently waiting for season 2
Farscape, seasons 1-4, and the movie
Dead Like Me, seasons 1-2
Buffy, seasons 1-7
Xena, season 3
and, I'm presently working on the X-Files; right now I just have seasons 1-4

Gotta love the Slim sets or I wouldn't have any space left.

:o)

[identity profile] joolz01.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
SG1 (1,2)

Smallville (1-4)
The Protectors (1)
Dark Angel (1)

Numb3rs (1) on VCD
Would like to get ST-TOS and DS9, Highlander, NCIS, TS, Millennium, Forever Knight, and QAF-UK, but haven't yet been able to justify the expense. Yet. ;)

[identity profile] parisntripfan.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)

SGA season 1
Horatio Hornblower, first four movies (hey, it was tv, it counts)

I want House. Red Dwarf. I have blooper VHSs of Red Dwarf somewhere...

Kam :)

[identity profile] melibabe.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
My way-too-long list:

- SGA season 1 (but not "The Rising" single DVD)
- SG1 seasons 1-8 (haven't picked up 9 yet)
- Andromeda seasons 1-2
- Battlestar Galactica OS (Cylon head edition)
- Bonanza 20 episode set
- Buffy seasons 1-3
- Dead Like Me season 1
- Doctor Who "The Five Doctors" (special edition)
- Doctor Who "The Curse of Fenric"
- Doctor Who Lost in Time Collection
- Earth 2
- Emergency! seasons 1-2
- Fame season 1
- Firefly
- Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries season 1
- Magnum P.I. seasons 1-2
- The Monkees seasons 1-2
- Quantum Leap seasons 1-2 (refuse to buy more til they fix the music)
- Red Dwarf 1-8
- Schoolhouse Rock 30th Anniversary Edition
- Sealab 2021 season 1
- Starsky and Hutch seasons 1-2
- The Tomorrow People set 1
- Wonderfalls

A lot of "seasons 1 and 2" listings there, because after an initial rush to have everything, I reigned myself in and am trying to be more selective now. :-p

[identity profile] with-apostrophe.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
My goodness and it's alphabetised! Are you an archivist or a librarian?

[identity profile] melibabe.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I cheated and logged into TV Shows on DVD (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com), where you can keep track of what you own and get news on what's coming out. :)

[identity profile] with-apostrophe.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Sneaky, very sneaky preciousssss!

Babylon 5, Darkwing Duck, Stargate SG-1 and SGA, Red Dwarf, seaQuest, Star Trek DS9, Star Trek TNG (really want TOS though), Arrested Development, Simpsons, Futurama, Beavis and Butthead, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (the TV series of course), South Park...

Oh dear.. Far too many apparently.

[identity profile] sgatazmy.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
whoops, that was me. Forgot to sign in.

[identity profile] sgatazmy.livejournal.com 2006-11-19 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't watched it for fear of it not living up to my childhood dreams. LOL

[identity profile] nonniemous.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...lots?

Mine, personally:
Stargate: ATlantis, first season
Stargate SG1, seasons 1 - 7
Battlestar Galactica, Seasons 1 - 2 1/2
Firefly

(The rest of these belong to the rest of the family)
Dead Like Me, Season 1
Buffy, the Vampire Slayer Seasons 1 - 7
Dilbert Season 1
South Park SEasons 1 - 5

Cosmos
Blue Ocean
Life of Mammals

I plan to add SGA season 2 as soon as it's available, and probably get the last of BSG season 2 in the next month or so. The boys all want Dead Like Me's last season, too. Haven't decided about Season 8, 9 or 10 of SG1; I don't like Ben Browder's character and I miss the Jack from the earlier seasons.

[identity profile] nonniemous.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, have to add after looking through the comments:

Horatio Hornblower, all of them.
Sharpe's Rifles, the first 7. BBC tv series are short! ;-)

And the new Dr. Who is the next series I'll be buying, not sure if I'm going to like the David Tennant ones, though. IF we had the $$, we'd have all of B5, and a lot of Star Trek, TOS and TNG mostly.

There's a theme to all this, if I could just put my finger on it...;-)

OMG!

[identity profile] drufan.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG! You have Gargoyles listed. It is one of my favorite shows period. Animation or reg live action. Glad to see another fan.

I might as well answer your question since I'm here.
Gargoyles (S1 and S2) also have the entire thing on VHS
Smallville (S1,2,& 3)
X-files (S1 & 2)
West Wing (S1 & 2)
Angel (S1)
Emergency (S2)
SGA (S1 and S2 when it comes out!)
Lois and Clark (S1 & 2)
I think that is it.

Still excited over someone else with Gargoyles...yay.

hey dru! i hate to butt in, but i just noticed that both you & i have the same seasons of L & C! are you planning on eventually getting seasons 3 & 4 too tho? or are you gonna just stop there??? ~a fellow SGA & L&C fan, Sharma

Re: OMG!

[identity profile] drufan.livejournal.com 2006-11-16 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Actually yes, I just haven't watched Season 2 yet. Glad to find a L&C fan. Loved their take on his Clarkness. Only show I've wanted the male and female characters to get together b/c it's Superman and Lois--they have to!

Re: OMG!

[identity profile] johnsheppardluv.livejournal.com 2006-11-16 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
You are so right about that show's Clark. With Dean, he was cooler, realer, & not quite as much of the bumbling, stubling wreck that some prior (Reeve) & post (Welling) supermans played him as. I also am with you on the fact that L & C sooooo belong together. It's destiny. And although I ship *Sparky* in SGA fandom & Mal/Inara in the Firefly/Serenity fandom, I too think that out of all the shows I regularly have seen, L&C: TNAOS is the only series where I actually really rooted for main characters to get together on the show.

[identity profile] bramble-rose.livejournal.com 2006-11-15 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
just quick:
s1-6 Stargate
s1 SGAtlantis
s1-3 Due South
s1 House
s1-2 Dark Angel
s1-3 CSI
s1 CSI Miami
s1 Without a Trace
s-1 Mag 7
s-1 Spooks (MI-5)

[identity profile] johnsheppardluv.livejournal.com 2006-11-16 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Well, fs, I got all these over the past 4 years. ;) So, please do have a gander. :)

1. The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr, The Complete Series
2. SGA, Seasons 1 & 2 (obviously...lol)
3. Firefly, The Complete Series (the best show evah! aside from SGA, that is. lol)
4. Stargate SG-1, Seasons 1-8 (tho now I only have the 7th season, as that was my fave)
5. Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Seasons 1 & 2 (so far)

~ur pal, Sharma, aka
the "great watcher of dvds" (lol)

[identity profile] autumn-opal.livejournal.com 2006-11-16 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
What do I have? Way, way too much.

Angel, Arrested Development, Buffy, Coupling (seasons 1-3), Due South, Keen Eddie, Firefly, Adventures of Brisco County Jr., SGA, Tru Calling, Supernatural, Sports Night, Wonderfalls, West Wing (seasons 1-2), seaQuest S1, Roswell, Smallville (seasons 1-2), Lost S1, and Mag7.

It's neat to see what everyone else is interested in -- there's a lot of similar shows among the lists.

DVDs

[identity profile] nottasha.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
DVD's. Let's see...

SGA - Season One
The Office (US) - Season one
Wonderfalls
Arrested Development - Season 1,2,3
SCTV
Cracker (US)
The Newsroom - Season One
This is Wonderland - Season One

and I have all of "Magnificent Seven" and "Good vs. Evil" taped.

Guess I have more than I thought...

Re: DVDs

[identity profile] nottasha.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
oh, and Firefly! How could I forget Firefly?

Magnificent Seven

[identity profile] nottasha.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, M7, the TV series -- in many ways it was magnificent. They had a great cast, wonderful characters and a terrific setting. Unfortunately, the writing sometimes sucked! LOL. There were some really great episodes and some that were really bad. Of course, it was the characters I loved.

When it first aired though, I stopped watching it because I was so tired of how my favorite character (Ezra, of course) was usually just the comic relief and the buffoon. I mean, if Standish was such a great con artist, then how come he always failed at any con that was for his own gain?

It's one of the things I don't like when I see them do it with Rodney - make him the buffoon and the comic relief. I love that he's fallible! I never fall for the perfect ones -- give me a character with gray areas! But, some of the writers seem to love putting him down.

Anyway, watch M7, but we aware that not all of it is golden. Fanfiction, I think, did a lot to improve the series. There is some excellent M7 fanfic out there. Check it out.
