EEEEEEEE!
SciFi Channel renews SGA for another year
I know it's silly, but this made me giddy with happiness. I'd just been trying so *hard* not to think too much about it, to be happy with what I have and not worry if it doesn't go for another season. But this thrilled me beyond all reason.
I don't know if this is written in stone yet -- for all I know, it could change -- but they SAID so, darn it!
And SG-1 is ending with Season 10 ... which, in a way, strikes me as a good thing for SGA from a writing standpoint: it means that the writers won't have to tie together two different plotlines anymore, but they'll still have the option of bringing over SG-1 guest stars if they want to. It's possible that no longer having SG-1 as a lead-in could cause SGA to take a ratings hit ... but you know, it could also make its ratings go UP, because now they'll have to pair it off with other SF shows that might bring in new viewers.
I'm honestly not too sad about SG-1 ending, even though I've started watching it again and I do like the show -- but I hesitate even to type "cancelled", because it did have to end SOMETIME. It really has had a marvelous run ... it's not like it's getting cut down in its prime. And it's still going out with some pizzazz. It hit a terrible slump around seasons 5 and 6 -- at least I thought so -- but has picked up a lot lately, with the introduction of new characters. So it's kind of nice, actually, that it's going out on a high note rather than a low one.
And ... fourth season for SGA! Scream!
