Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist vol. 10
I finally got my copy of YGO: Duelist 10 today and read it in the car while waiting for ye husband to finish up at work.
I had the dice duel in scanslations, but from there, no more scanslations up until the Evil!Jounouchi duel several volumes later. So I had seen the burning-building scene (which is one of my favorite Yugi-Jounouchi scenes ... okay, I have a LOT of favorite Yugi-Jounouchi scenes) but not the rest of it. Pharoah ... so ... ADORABLE! Of the two of them, I've always liked Yugi better (by a slight margin) because he's so very sweet and vulnerable, but the Pharoah's blend of bad-assness and naivety is just TOO cute.
I also like how, every so often, they refer back to the wish at the very beginning (in this case, the hospital scene).
"Solid vision hologram"? *blinks* Oooookay...
Does Mokuba actually call Kaiba "Kaiba" during the duel or is that a mistranslation?
Ishizu's faith in Kaiba is sweet.
Some choice quotes:
"I can sense the presence of duelists." (Pharoah)
... his duelist sense is tingling! *dies laughing*
Pharoah responding to Anzu asking about his clothing choices:
"My partner doesn't have much fashion sense."
You know ... that explains a LOT ... XD
I never would have thought it was Yugi who picks out those clothes. It's kind of amusing to contemplate the Pharoah putting up with the chains and leather because Yugi is a short kid desperately trying to make himself look tough.
You do have to wonder about a mother who lets her 14-year-old son go to school in skin-tight leather pants and a dog collar, though ...

no subject
It wasn't so much the name "Solid Vision" that amused me, as the technology itself ... solid holograms ... still trying to wrap my brain around that one. But ... I guess I oughta look on the bright side ... imagine how interesting the duels would be if all we got to see was the players laying cards down for 6 chapters!
Yugi picked the clothes, but he picked them because he thought the Pharaoh would like them.
Aha, that makes more sense, and I had forgotten that bit in the last book. Awwww! So the Pharoah's all embarrassed about it. Maybe he's realized that normal 20th-century teenagers don't dress that way most of the time. Although in Domino City, a lot of them do. The Domino City Leather Pants Emporium & Bondage Gear, Inc., does seem to get a lot of business, doesn't it.
