Eek, help, the stills for White Collar 3x11 & 3x12 are out, and they're everywhere. I will not click on them, I will not, AAAAAAAAA. *tears hair out* (For the record, I do plan to attempt to remain unspoiled for the new season, to the extent that I can manage it -- but January can't get here soon enough! The cut tags are RIGHT THERE! AAAAAAGH!)
Otherwise, life is quiet and pleasant. Most of what I've been doing lately has been a combination of Christmas shopping/gift-making (almost done with that), and revising short stories in the hopes of maybe selling one somewhere. I really do feel like I've leveled up as a writer over the last year or two, in terms of original fic, and I've certainly gotten a whole lot better at revising my stories and spotting their shortcomings. There's something vaguely disheartening at having to write everything at least twice, but on the other hand, the end results are better, so there is that.
Once I get my Highlander exchange story revised/rewritten, I will be aaaallll done with the fannish stuff I signed up to write this year (there wasn't much of it), as well as the bigger stories I wanted to finish, so I intend to PLAY. Actually, for my own reference, here's what I want to tackle before the end of the year (though I expect I won't get around to all of these, or possibly even to most of these):
collarcorner - stuff some stockings, fill a prompt or two
fandom_stocking - write a couple of stocking fills
wc_women_fest - fill a prompt or two from this round; fill one that caught my fancy from last round
whitecollarhc - fill a prompt or two for the current round (there are so many I want to write!)
hc_bingo - I really would like to finish another bingo: 3 stories to go on my current card for a straight line across the middle, one of which is a prompt I'd really like to write ("drowning"), but I think this takes lower priority than fic-gifts for other people, unless an idea really hits me.
*goes back to hiding from shiny spoilers*

I agree that gifts take priority, although where the muse inspires is often what ends up getting written first, at least in note form. I've done one fill on my hc bingo and I really liked my card when I got it and I'm so disappointed in myself - which is really unproductive. And I've got Yuletide which takes priority. And I need to actually write stuff for all the various challenges and quit whining about them. So, yes, I understand :D

Yeah, the trouble sometimes is that I'll have exchange fics that I'm a lot less enthusiastic about than my various for-fun ideas, but I feel like I shouldn't goof off on "fun" stories 'til I finish my obligations -- which often leads to procrastinating and getting nothing written at all! One reason why I tried not to sign up for very much this season ...

I feel so bad because I haven't stuffed any stockings, yet. I'm trying to decide whether to make icons for everyone (which would be easy, and ensure everyone gets a gift) or a mass present in the form of a fun little piece of art (but, man, my art skills... I'm not sure if I can pull of what I have in mind :/ Except it's such a cute idea!)

*nods* This is exactly what I'm thinking. I know that I enjoy things so much more when I allow myself to be surprised, and I really don't want to build it up in my head beforehand and then be disappointed. But oh, it's hard avoiding the spoilers! (Self-control is good for a person, though. :D)
I'm looking forward to getting my Highlander fic done (I got a ton of very useful and necessary beta feedback, but now I'm having to rewrite big chunks of it ^^), so that I can play with some fun-looking prompts. I'd like to do a little ficlet for everyone if I can, but I don't know if I'll have the time; it's less than two weeks 'til I'm leaving to go see my brother's family for Christmas.
ETA: Oh, and art sounds like a lot of fun! :D I hope you do that!
