I just saw this and it looks awesome: Fall Fandom Free-For-All. You leave a list of requests for fic/vids/art, and in return promise to answer at least one request from someone else's list. I think I'm going to play. :D I just need to figure out what to ask for.

ETA: Also, it looks like most people are requesting things in big fandoms and there's obviously nothing at all wrong with that, but it seems like this is the sort of challenge that might be tailor-made for getting something in a very small/rare fandom or for a really rare pairing, should you have one that you've been craving fic/vid/art for. Especially since multiple requests are allowed, so you can spread your requests between the "common" fandoms and the not-so-common ones. :D *ponders her rare fandoms*

I did that the first two years and really enjoyed it. It's low-pressure, and it's fun to trawl through the requests looking for something to fulfill.

I've seen it before, but I either forgot or was too busy with other commitments to feel comfortable signing up for something else. This year, though, I'm in a happy multi-fannish mood and I'm looking forward to playing! I already found a couple requests that look like my kind of thing. :D

Sadly, mostly what it's doing for me is bringing home why Yuletide is the fandom event of my heart--because Yuletide is full of things I can write for, whereas I've seen exactly one request on that list I might be able to fulfill :-(. Please request fic for books, people? Please? Not all of us are TV people. I feel so out of sync with fandom :-/.

Awwww, no, that sucks! Yeah, I don't see many anime/manga prompts, either -- it looks like this is very heavily Western-TV-fandom oriented (probably because that's what the people who are most vocal about it are into).

It seems like this is the sort of challenge that is tailor-made for rare/small fandom prompts, though! Perhaps I will ETA something into my post along those lines ...

Well, to a certain extent I am being unduly whiny :-). I have written for X-men and could do so again. It's just, I'd be writing gen fic, and I think that would make all the shippers sad.

Oh no, I'm glad you said something, because I hadn't really thought about it (my main fandom at the moment being a large-ish live-action TV fandom), but there is a real dearth of prompts from anything other than Western TV source, and that really shouldn't be so!

... also, I've never been particularly fussed about upsetting shippers by writing gen. XD Er, though I guess in something like this, if they're asking for a pairing, that's different ...

Although asking for Darker Than Black fic that's not pornothon would be fun...
