sholio: sun on winter trees (SGA-Sheppard rain)

Looking ahead to 2007

I should do that looking-back-on-year's-stories fandom meme that's been circulating, but I'm too damn lazy. I keep starting it and then wimping out.

However, this has been the Year That Fandom Ate Layla (again). I haven't been this fannish about something in years, and I'm really not sure if I've *ever* had a fandom obsession that lasted this long at this intensity. I've certainly gone fan-crazy for short periods of time, but this has been awhile ... since March, I guess. I don't think I'm still quite *as* deep in the obsession as I was last summer, but it's definitely still a presence in my life.

This is also the first time that I've gotten into a big-time fanfic-writing frenzy since ... 2003, maybe. I've intermittently written fic since then, off and on, but I never really finished much, and certainly nothing long.

I've also gotten to know a lot of fantastic people through SGA fandom that I would not have otherwise met. So thank you, everyone, for welcoming this newbie into the SGA fold, for reading my stories and discussing the show with me and generally being a wonderful, intelligent, interesting bunch. Happy New Year!

*smile* Thank you!

I think that honestly, I've probably gotten to know more cool people through this dip into fandom than in any of my previous ones. I still have a small handful of friends left from my earlier fandoms, like [livejournal.com profile] xparrot, but in general, I never really got *friendly* with people in Invisible Man fandom or SG-1 fandom or my various anime fandoms. Or, if I did, things didn't end well ... Star Trek is coming to mind here. So far, this has just been an incredibly positive experience all the way around, and I'm so grateful. :)
