Happy things: some vid recs!

So I recently discovered the community vidding, which has been, uh, bad for my productivity in general. XD

But, here: have some happymaking vid recs! (These aren't all from vidding, though most are; the links go to the creators' pages, though.)

These Are My People by colls - Firefly vid set to a Rodney Atkins country song (perfect for Firefly, I might add), for the theme "family"; it's fun, happy, bouncy, wonderfully edited, and just generally makes me miss all the things I loved so much about the show. :D (DL & streaming.)

What About Everything by fizzyblogic - This is set to the ever-popular "What About Everything" by Carbon Leaf, and it is an awesome multifandom female-character vid -- female characters from many TV & movie fandoms, kicking ass and taking names and hanging out with other women. (Download & streaming)

Hugging time by shortnudel - Set to "Right By Your Side" by the Eurythmics, this is a multifandom hugging vid. *meeps* Includes SGA/SG1, Supernatural, NCIS and a bunch of others. (Streaming only)

School's Out by leanwellback - A multifandom vid of schoolkids being troublemakers, silly punks, and just plain kids, set to "School's Out" by Alice Cooper; clips from live-action, animated and computer-animated sources. Fun! (DL & streaming)

Take On Me by greensilver - Fast, bouncy, nifty Doctor Who vid set to the A-Ha song (of course), with footage from all Doctors. (DL & streaming)

Run With Me by chaila43 - A tribute vid for River Song from DW, lovely and awesome as River herself! (spoilers for River's episodes; DL & streaming)

Open Your Eyes by derry667 - DW Eleventh Doctor vid (Rory/Amy + Doctor); beautiful song choice, beautifully edited! I love Derry's vids and I'm so delighted that she made a new one! (very spoilery for season 5; DL & streaming)

Let It Rock by tarryfairy - Tribute vid for Zuko from Avatar; fast and bouncy and I can't stop watching this; help. (Spoilers for the whole series; streaming only)

Wild Child by calapine - Multifandom female-character tribute vid set to an Enya song; beautiful editing and clip choices! (DL & streaming)

FYI ~ LJ has started up some funny pingback thing, which is how I learned of this post. I've left it unscreened on my original post as an example of what these pingbacks look like for those random folks who are interested. If you'd rather I didn't please let me know and I'll re-screen in. ;)

... ah, the pingbacks ... they're new! I actually went and disabled mine, mostly because there are some possible privacy concerns (http://brownbetty.dreamwidth.org/509566.html) (maybe! it's not certain! but I decided to be safe). Anyway, I think it's kind of cool, but I'll let LJ work out the bugs before I enable it again (though I certainly don't mind you having unscreened the comment; I like the little robot! *g*).

Oh, well. It looks like replying to the pingback_bot thingy doesn't do anything here. I was hoping it might. That would've been a little bit cool.

Thanks for the rec. And I'd like to leave the unscreened comment in my LJ too. That's probably just my vanity though ;-)

And I see from the above comments and your link that there's some sort of privacy issue. As I don't lock any of the posts to my LJ nor quote other people's locked posts, I'm going to leave it. I'm moderately curious if people occasionally quote me. Or is that vanity too?

I'm pretty sure it won't happen often anyway. I'm not often active on LJ and never locked.

And I will have to check out some of the other recs you've got here. It's so long since I've seen Firefly and the "family" in that show was one of my favourite aspects. Cheers!

Yeah, the pingback thing is ... odd. I don't think it's any sort of problem as long as you don't do locked posts, but that's where it gets weird, because sometimes it seems to do pingbacks on locked posts, and sometimes it doesn't. I went ahead and turned it off just to be on the safe side. I wasn't going to turn it off, but then, I can't figure out if I like having my posts pinged or not. After all, I've disabled nearly all notifications on my LJ and ff.net accounts except for comments (I really don't want to know if people friend/unfriend me, or if they favorite my ff.net fics -- I don't care, and paying attention to that stuff just makes me neurotic). Seeing that people have rec'd my stuff is really flattering, but what if the attention isn't positive? It's harder to ignore when the notifications are dropping into my inbox.

... I just don't know!

Anyway, I hope you like some of the other vids too. :D

Me too! :D And I'm glad you enjoyed them! I need to do more vid rec posts, because I really appreciate other peoples', and it's harder to find good vids than good fic; there isn't really any kind of central location, like we have the fic archives.

I found another one that I just can´t stop watching (or, more accurately, humming): Do You Like Waffles?, the A:tla version (link goes to youtube). It´s hypnotic and possibly evil, but I don´t have the time to think about it because I have to go buy a waffle maker.
