Yuletide-related signal boost

If you're interested in Yuletide pinch hits, there's a notice on the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide_admin comm that the pinch hit list is currently defunct (the mod who runs it got temporarily shut down by Yahoo because of the flood of traffic!) so the new pinch hit list is located here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/yuletidepinchhitters/. It works just like the old one did. Go to the link above to subscribe, or send a blank email to yuletidepinchhitters-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

I'm very curious. I was thinking of going over to the LJ and read some of the stories, but from what I gather there are tons of stories. Are they posted randomly? By fandom? I guess if all else fails there is a master tag list to search?

Yuletide, you mean? They're sorted by fandom. This year's stories are all hidden until the 25th; when they go live, they will be on Archive of Our Own (http://archiveofourown.org/), which operates kind of similarly to ff.net in that you can look for fic by fandom or author or character.

The last 10 years or so of stories are all on the old archive site, Yuletidetreasure.org (http://www.yuletidetreasure.org/), but the search/archive index page is closed until the 25th. Well, not linked from the main page anyway ... *looks around shiftily* it's still there. (http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/quicksearch.html) They'll eventually be migrating all the old stories to the AO3 archive once this year's flurry of stories are all done and posted.

Hopefully that answers your questions! :D I've always found Yuletide a great resource for finding fic in really rare and obscure fandoms, and it tends to be pretty high quality, too.

Thank you! I wish I had paid more attention to your posts about Yuletide (looks sheepish) but I blame my lack of steady net for that! Anyhow, there are fandoms I don't talk about that I would love to read fic in, and have an excuse to write something obscure.

Maybe next year, when I'll have my clone.

I'm taking three days off this weekend, so after I scratch off some lingering SGA fic that's been on the back burner, I look forward to the treasure hunt!

ooh ooh, where are you getting it? I need one too! :D

(... though if sci-fi has taught me nothing, it's that nothing involving clones ever ends well...)

I hope you have a nice break; I look forward to finding what else you're working on story-wise! :)

Oh, I should also mention that on the old archive system, there are no warnings or pairing labels or anything like that unless the author chooses to include them in the (brief) story description. There's a rating and that's about all; not that most people are writing NC-17 snuff fic for Christmas, but you do pretty much click at your own risk. On the other hand, it's basically the same thing at ff.net too. Archive of our Own will have much more detailed descriptive information.
