Disambiguation time!

My very favorite thing from the now-widely-publicized news about Sarah Palin resigning as governor -- THANK GOD -- is this classic quote from her resignation speech: “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.” (See paragraph 5.) You just cannot make stuff like this up.

Anyway! A long time ago, I had a "disambiguation" thread (word shamelessly snurched from Wikipedia) for people to ask questions about my fic. I haven't done that in quite awhile, though. So ... do you have any questions about any of my stories? A reference you didn't get? A bit of characterization that seemed kind of "off"? A plot point that seemed like an homage to something famous, but may not have been? Or are you just curious why I made a particular story decision? Critical questions are fine; I wouldn't have opened up the floor if I wasn't willing to field criticism.

Ask away!

We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction. You know, that phrase seems very very familiar. I can't quite put my finger on where the heck I've heard it, but I get the feeling it would be really funny!

Hopefully that Lt. Gov. who's replacing her will do right by you guys up there.

It's a Douglas MacArthur quote, according to Google. That's doubly funny because MacArthur was considered a war-crazed megalomaniac in certain circles. :D

Sadly, the Lt. Gov. is ... not much better. I used to think he'd actually be worse, but I'm starting to think very little would be worse! In another year we'll have another shot at getting someone competent in there. *crosses fingers*

On the bright side, at least I'm no longer living in Illinois! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blagojevich)

Oh the governors of this country are doing us all proud this year, aren't they! :P At least I don't think Jay Nixon has made national headlines yet. *worries*

That quote - you couldn't write that for somebody, no one would believe you.

I thought about asking my twitter feed if leading from the outside was like topping from the bottom, but thought the better of it.

*snickers* Well, I guess we'll see how this plays out over the next couple of months. Maybe eventually we can get back to what passes for normal around here!

I knew that quote but I've just been reading a book on Kokoda (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokoda_Track_campaign). So your Sarah (I'm joking!) can't even make a speech without ripping someone off.

Yeah, that's Sarah, all right ... :D

Oh, Palin! Don't get me started...Okay, I'm started. She gave some interview and decided to explain why she's pro-life or something. Said that for a while only she knew she was pregnant with--Trigg? Is that the special-needs child's name? Anyway, only she knew about the pregnancy and about his Down's Syndrome. And she thought about termination but decided to go ahead with the pregnancy. That is, she chose to continue it. And because of that, she's pro-life and thinks abortion should not be legal. The idiot wouldn't know irony if it slammed her in the kishkes.

Is it possible to advance backwards?

Is it possible to advance backwards?

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what she's been doing for the last year! Sometimes at a great rate of speed!

Yeah, I saw that quote - I think it was from her speech to a national pro-life assembly. At this point, the jokes pretty much write themselves.
