May is upon us, like a ton of ice cubes

a path through bare trees entirely buried in snow

Perhaps not.

This is the path off through the woods to one of our favorite walking spots. The driveway is SLIGHTLY less dire; at least you can walk on it.

a stripe of bare ground between two piles of snow

Rumor has it that it might snow this weekend. Apparently it's snowing like blazes in the mountains just south of Anchorage.

This, like all things, will pass, but I'm looking forward to a return to summer.

Oh dear! Not quite the time yet for pinning a branch of May blossom above your door then.

Thank you for sharing photos -- life in Alaska is (from the pov of someone living 4500 miles away) fascinating in its difference.

Oh no, risking frostbite if you try to keep that particular tradition :-D. We danced the summer in last night here, maybe we can send some summer your way too.

The Northern Hemisphere will have to come and do their fucking here, where it's nearly winter and was 28C on the first of May where I live, breaking temperature records.

It feels so strange to think about how different the weather is on the other side of the globe. I'm in India and it's sweltering.

What's the duration of summer where you are?

This is unusually cold for early May (usually most of the snow is gone by now) but it's not too far behind schedule.

Check. We're on the kind of schedule that would have been normal when I was a child, but has generally been superseded by climate change. It's much nicer than the alternative and I have to hope it does not presage the immediate collapse of the Gulf Stream.

Oof. We might get some May snow here too; it's happened before since I've lived here, and last night it was cold enough but dry. At least the past winter's snow has all melted for us now.

Oh. Oh, dear.

Today looks pretty nice outside here, and we've opened a living room window. But I hear tomorrow we're back to chilly rain, and possibly a bit of snow mixed it (probably more likely elsewhere in the province than here). Real spring now, please!

No snow here, quite a nice day actually, not too hot, not too cold. But yeah, I can imagine you'll be glad to see the back of the snow this year.

At least you gave me a laugh, with your juxtaposition of the lyrics and the photos!

HEEEE. OMG, I hope you get summer soon! I hope you're enjoying the longer days, anyway.
