Two longish Babylon 5 fic recs
I still have intentions of doing some proper rec posts of all the excellent fic that I read during my initial reading dive into the AO3 tags last spring/summer, but - since apparently that's not happening yet, I may as well start reccing as I go.
These are a couple of longer fics that I marked for later on my initial sweep through the archive and finally remembered to go back and read. One season one genfic, one late-season explicit fic in which I'm sure the main pairing will surprise no one.
The Subtle Arrangement of Stones by
Nemo_the_Everbeing (38K words, gen, season 1)
Really wonderful season 1-era genfic that rotates through all the major characters and some of the minor ones. The ambassadors are kidnapped by a human terror group, the aides try to rescue them, the human staff wonder what they did to deserve having to deal with all of this. Full of lovely little character moments, solidly grounded in mid-season-one characterization with subtle nods to future developments, and often dryly hilarious in the way the show can be. (Kosh's POV section might actually be my favorite, but there's just so much good stuff in this.)
The Sayonese Affair by
shell_and_bone (30K words, Londo/G'Kar, explicit)
Post-canon fixit with plot and politics and consensual bedroom power exchange/powerplay, which is something I don't think I've seen before with them (sensitively handled, imho, but obviously mileage is going to vary on whether that'll be someone's cup of tea). The plot and political intrigue is very nicely done, and I really enjoyed the character interactions.
