Part of being on Livejournal is inevitably gaining a number of LJ buddies. Unfortunately, as time wears on, it's easy to forget where all of them came from. Post this in your journal and have your friends respond with how they recall first 'meeting' you.

(Of course, my own memory is so awful that I suck at this kind of thing. :D)

I have no idea where I met *anyone*. God help me if anyone changes their LJ name -- they simply become a new person to me. But as far as I know, I first started reading your stuff on ff.net and then when I discovered you had an LJ page I friended you. I either remember that or I'm making it up, but it was probably soemthing like that.

I have no idea where I met anyone either! We can be amnesiacs together. :D

(And this reminds me that you have been commenting on my stories since forever and I keep forgetting to friend you. *does so*)

Er, I think I commented on one of your SGA stories on LJ in 2006? I'd read something by you on ff.net earlier though.

I absolutely have not got a clue. I'm fairly sure you're one of the people I've known for a long time though ... from pretty close to the start of my time in SGA fandom (which would have been '06, so that makes sense).

Pretty much the same as [livejournal.com profile] spike21 above I believe. I started reading your fic on ff.net and then discovered your LJ and friended you. I'm not sure where I learned of your LJ - possible [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic? Either that, or from your profile on ff.net, if you've got a link to your LJ there. *shrugs* My memory's pretty bad about this stuff!!

Mine is terrible, so ... :D But I'm pretty much positive that I knew you on ff.net before LJ. Although I don't remember for sure, it's likely that I came across your stories in my initial reading binge when I first got into the fandom in early '06; I was following links between people's favorites list, and I think I read just about everything gen that existed at the time, at least on the ff.net side of the fandom (I hadn't really gotten in LJ in a big way yet).

I'll use my first SGA icon, then! :D

Didn't we first meet in the middle of that ginormous discussion over whether [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic's "Freedom's Just Another Word For Nothing Left To Lose" was gen or slash? *g*

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I thought that was the first time I encountered you (and a couple other people on my f'list too, I believe).

(And, wow, I cringe thinking about some of the stupid things I said in that discussion. You were so very much more patient with me than I deserved. :D)

[identity profile] tarzanic.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
After thinking about it a bit, I cheated and checked my old email files. I am a digital packrat. :)

I believe I added you after reading the most awesome "Postcards to Jeannie."
ext_1981: (Default)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, clever! :) (And thanks! I think Postcards is probably my most-read story in the fandom.)

[identity profile] roga.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I read the road trip fic you wrote for... some kind of ficathon? -- that [livejournal.com profile] queenzulu recced, and when authors were revealed I went on a reading binge of your stuff, and Postcards to Jeannie, and on top of everything else you were from Alaska, which is awesome, and all of those combined, I had to friend :-)

I was going to say "... I don't remember at all", but actually, now that I'm thinking about it ... I think I do remember getting a whole bunch of comments from you, and deciding to check out your blog because you were reviewing everything I'd written, and finding out that you had fascinating posts on life in Israel, and friending you. :)

(That must have been [livejournal.com profile] gateverse_remix, '07 -- the road trip story.)

[identity profile] jimandblair.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't got a clue; it probably had something to do with osmosis. I know that we've been playing in the same sandpit for a long while occasionally grinning and waving at each other over our sandcastles. Whaleverse made us shuffle closer together and bump shoulders.
ext_1981: (Default)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Playing in the same sandpit, I think, sums up how I met a lot of the people who have me friended; we just shuffled around until eventually we bumped into each other. I've been reading your stories for quite awhile, but I don't think I'd even really had a conversation with you prior to Big Bang!

[identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Fanfic, that's where I met pretty much everyone:D Then when I got a live journal account, I went around friending all my favorite authors.

*nods* I know a lot of people came over from ff.net ...

[identity profile] livrelibre.livejournal.com 2009-02-19 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I never remember these things. It was definitely on LJ in SGA but that doesn't really narrow it down, does it?
ext_1981: (Default)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Ha, I know. It's like [livejournal.com profile] jimandblair said -- we're playing in the same sandbox, and eventually we all bump into each other, but other than that ... I haven't a clue. It might make things a little more memorable if I switched fandoms more often, but I've been in SGA fandom ever since I've been on LJ (which is ironic, since prior to SGA I went through fandoms at the drop of a hat).

[identity profile] artemis-prime.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I remember finding SGA on lj and your stories were the first I came across, well, the first that I remember with certainty. I fell in love with Long Road Home and it hooked me on SGA fic. I knew I wanted to read anything else that you might create so I friended you. I am so glad I did. :)

Aww, thank you! *giggles at your icon - oh Jayne*

Most of the people commenting here ... they just kind of showed up, from my perspective. I feel kind of guilty about it, but I just don't remember -- everybody was just here all of a sudden, and I don't know where any of them came from. *g* It's really fascinating to see how other people remember it.

[identity profile] artemis-prime.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Different POV is a fascinating thing. That and the fact that people here are from all over the world! You're in Alaska, others in Britain, Australia, Canada, continental USA - such a small and big world.

I can't take credit for making the icon, but I can take credit for having a hugely ridiculous lust/crush for Jayne. Oh Jayne...

Uh . . . definitely through fic, probably something for [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic, and then I found your website, and then I friended you, but beyond that? I'd guess it's been about a year, year and a half, since I started getting involved in fandom around May 2007.

I loved your fics so much I was very pleasantly surprised to discover you had an account so I started visiting your LJ for SGA ep reactions. Overtime it just became easier to friend you since your posts are always interesting to read.
ext_1981: (Default)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. :) I think the fic led a lot of people here!

[identity profile] spark-force.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. *scratches chin* You were on the SGAHC list, right? I think it was either there or on ff.net that I first noticed your fic, July '06ish-- at least that's when I first started getting new chapter alerts from ff.net for The Killing Frost, anyways (yes, I'm totally checking through my email archives. My memory sucks for stuff like this). Then I found your LJ linked in your profile, and first commented in January '07. And then never quite went away... ;p

Geez. '06. That was a while ago...

It *was* awhile back! It's hard to believe I've been in this fandom for three years (almost exactly this month, in fact).

[identity profile] sgatazmy.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Easy. You read a couple of my stories and commented on them. Then I read one of yours and made a comment about a wording issue. You then had me beta subsequent chapters while you helped me with my stories. :) As far as fandom goes, you've been one of my closest friends. I know that my writing has vastly improved because of you!
ext_1981: (BH-Mitchell smile)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, wow ... I'd forgotten you'd been beta'ing for me that long, but it was one of the very first ones, wasn't it? Either That Which is Broken or Running on Empty, I think. I'd never had my stories beta'd before.

I'm glad I met you. :)

[identity profile] sgatazmy.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That Which is Broken :)

I'll be sending you a story this week by the way.

[identity profile] greyias.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Hrm... I think I ran across your fics on FFnet when I was rediscovering my love for fandom, and somehow that led me to LJ. I think I friended you after I realized it would probably be easier to do that rather than try to find your journal every time I wanted to see if you'd written something new.

I'm bad at this (memory? That's what I keep on my USB drive, right?), but I'm pretty sure I was reading your SGA fic on your other site and found the link to your LJ there. I found your other posts interesting, too, so I keep reading!

Makes sense! I think most people got here via the fic ...

[identity profile] tipper-green.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Bwa! Not a clue! Probably via reading a story on ff.net, since I still think of you as "Sholio." Hmm, the fanfic angle seems to be a trend....

Well, the very first story I ever read in this fandom was "Failure to Communicate", so no real mystery there on my end of things. *g* Though I don't remember now which story this was, I definitely remember how excited I was the first time you reviewed one of my stories. THE Tipper! Left me! A comment! OMG! :D

Neither of us actually remember, do we? It might've been the DBZ but it might've been before, because I seem to have memories of finding your DBZ fic and going, "Oh,that's *her* writing those!" But that might've been other fic...pre-lj fandom is so difficult to keep track of!

hahaha, yeah, weren't we trying to figure that out awhile back? I do remember having the "oh, *she* wrote that!" thing happen more than once. We were always just a little out of sync, wandering through the same fandoms at not quite the same times. But it was probably around '01/'02, I would think ...

[identity profile] anniehow.livejournal.com 2009-02-20 11:14 am (UTC)(link)

And also, as with many things in life, I blame [livejournal.com profile] xparrot. She was the one who had both of us on her f'list, going on about Harry Dresden (me while visiting her), so she poked me your way. And here we are. It was good poking. *hugs*

(Hee, now you've got me going back through my Dresden Files book-posts -- I really need to post about books more often, because it's fun looking back at my growing levels of squee for those books! And hey -- it's your first comment! (http://friendshipper.livejournal.com/63978.html?thread=1091306#t1091306) :D And, uh, lots more. Through SGA fandom definitely, though I don't remember if it was because I read one of your early fics or if you commented on one of the vids or episode picspams that I used to do.

I'm grateful for whatever it was though. Wouldn't have memories of using a life-signs detector to navigate through Boston otherwise. Not to mention conquering the Big Apple, snarktastic fic to read and countless rambling discussions. Good times.

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm ... I think it was a little of both; I remember commenting a bit shyly on your picspams, but I also remember you leaving me epic comments on my really early fics (completely awesome comments, lest it sound like I'm complaining!) and I'm not really sure which happened first.

But whichever way it happened, I'm awfully glad that it did. :)
