Genficathon signups are closed! We have 57 (maybe 58) people signed up, a few more than last year. :)

Over the next couple of days, I'll be writing up the writers' formatting guidelines, working out a posting schedule (probably 3 weeks with 2-3 stories per day, like last year) and sending out assignments.

Completely unrelated to the above, via [livejournal.com profile] bossymarmalade, here is a list of places to donate and ways to help the victims of the wildfires in Australia. I hope that everyone on my f'list and their friends and loved ones are safe.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] cupidsbow has a list of fannish relief efforts and fundraisers here.

Thank you for thinking of us. My cousin lost her house but her family are safe. My family are in a safe part of the state (Not that that means anything.)

I'm so sorry for your cousin, but I'm glad that everyone you love is safe. What a terrible thing. We have forest fires here, big ones; it's just pure luck that we've never had a disaster like that, I think.

The only thing Alaska has different is less people. We have small communities all through the hills surrounding Melbourne and Victoria is a pretty green state (well used to be before the drought). But it's so dry and so hot and there was this tremendous wind fanning things. Embers were travelling miles.
