I didn't know there was a Dresden Files novella I hadn't read! It's very new, right? I just finished it. YAY. I have fallen so totally, completely in love with that world; the books are not without problems, but I can happily ignore them because I thoroughly adore Harry and his friends and allies. This is one of those books where my favorite supporting characters tend to rotate depending on who's in the book -- because they're all really neat. And discovering an unexpected new Dresden story made my day. It makes the wait for the next book a little easier. (Not to mention new Scott Lynch book coming in February! Eeeeeee!)
And speaking of addicted to a fictional world, done with Ragamuffin and OMG I want Sly Mongoose nowwwww. The bookstore didn't have it, the library didn't have it ... Amazon it is, then! I think I'm developing a rather unbecoming character-crush on Pepper. And the clone thing -- heeeee! Especially considering that I'd been thinking since the beginning that Nashara was like a female version of Pepper. I had no idea how literally true that would be.
The one thing I couldn't figure out was why they bothered making some of the clones female. I keep thinking there's some piece of the puzzle that wasn't explained, because that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Unless it was just that Pepper's notorious enough in the Satrapy that a female clone was less conspicuous?
(Also, I couldn't help cracking up at John getting together with his best friend's female clone. Yes, there's nothing at all slashy about that. Though I do think John/Nashara is cute as can be. Snuggling on the ship! D'awwww!)

You're probably full-up with manga and anime to read right now, but if you *do* go looking for something new, I recomment Tobias Buckell's books wholeheartedly. It took me awhile to get into the first one (Crystal Rain) because I find his writing style kind of clunky, but then the awesome took over. :D
Should not still be awake! Aargh! *pries self away from computer*

There were parts of it that made no sense, that an editor should have fixed, but didn't. And then the plot, and the telling not showing and the characters and the fact that the author didn't seem all that familiar with the English language... I forced myself to read the whole thing, because it had been lent to me by a friend who loves the books and though I would love them too. Err. Yeah. This is probably why I still remember how annoyed I was with it - that, and I got stuck on a bus in a traffic jam with nothing else to read for an hour or so.
But, yes. My friend prefers Green over Butcher, and because I don't want to traumatize my friends, I didn't tell him just how many kinds of wrong I thought he was. To each their own, and all that. But I am staying far, far away from Simon R Green now!
Good luck sleeping! I will look into getting more Dresden Files. Dresden Files makes me squee. ♥

Wahahahaha, yes, it's a Nightside novella! I didn't notice clunky writing, though usually I'm fairly alert to it; I was too distracted by the utter unlikability of all the characters and the long list of "... do not want" in the first few pages. (I can ignore a certain amount of DO NOT WANT in anything I read. Or watch. But when it just keeps on pelting me with it, it better be a darn good book otherwise, and this wasn't.
