I want a new chair, a new cat, and, while I'm at it, a new ass

Note to self: when owning pets, do not assume that all is as you left it.

Like, for example, it would have been a good idea to notice that the cat had puked on my chair before sitting down.

*changes pants*

ANYWAY. Fannish stuff.

Signups for [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts close in two days (Jan. 22). Am still dithering. I want to play, but on the other hand, I'm really enjoying having a break from fandom -- no fic commitments, not reading much fic at all, just generally letting fandom flow past me. There are lots of signups, though! It looks it's going to be quite awesome.

[livejournal.com profile] sticksandsnark is taking signups for the Teyla/Rodney Thing-A-Thon until Jan. 30. This is another one that's currently trying to tempt me out of fandom hermitage.

[livejournal.com profile] show_goes_on is currently posting fic -- SGA gen and rare pairings -- go here for details or to claim a prompt.

[livejournal.com profile] that_other_show is a new community for discussing those shows that you like but don't really get massively fannish about -- to squee with fellow viewers without writing fic or moving into a whole new social circle. It's just starting up, but it could be pretty cool!

I'm still planning on holding [livejournal.com profile] sga_genficathon again this year. Signups will probably open in February.

(ETA and p.s. - we haz a new President! Yay!)

Sitting in cat puke, ICK!

Getting up out of bed in middle of night and putting foot down in cold pile of cat puke, ALSO ICK!

Oh, boy, someone new to share cat stories with!

Having pets is really a never-ending tale of disgusting bodily fluids, isn't it? I imagine kids are the same way, but I haven't got any of those. :D

I am always up for silly/funny/disgusting pet stories.

Yikes. Robust, washable covers are definitely the way to go with pets of any kind.

The really funny part was when, just now, I sat down in the wet spot, forgetting that I'd pulled off the towel so that the seat could start to dry while I took the dogs outside. I AM SO DUMB. XD

Re sticksandsnark: Be tempted! I'm gonna do it--it's a pairing that needs love and nurturing. :)

They are quickly turning into my secret SGA OTP, I swear. I blame all the utterly adorable bits with Rodney and baby Torren at the start of season 5.

Wiggly Torren!

Ick! What a nice present the cat left you!

Good to hear you're running the genficathon again this year. I'll definitely sign up for that one, though probably not any others atm. I really ought to try and get at least one of my many, many WIPs finished... Or at least, try to!

Yep, I just need to figure out the timing of it ... I don't want to push it back too far and end up conflicting with too many other ficathons. There's always something going on, though.

BTW, just put up a new icon in this batch here that you might, erm, agree with considering the cat's 'present' for you! Check out #34!

Hee! It is rather apropos, isn't it. :D

You gotta love cats. I have 2 myself. The grossness is definitely outweighed by the entertainment value.

And yay for the ficathon! I loved doing that last year. I'm so delighted you're going to do it again.

We have two dogs and a cat ... the hilarity never stops. :D

The ficathon produced some great stories last year; I hope this year will be likewise. :)

[identity profile] tipper-green.livejournal.com 2009-01-21 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Don't forget I'm all about giving you a helping hand this year with the genficathon! I'll be your east coast slave--just tell me what to do. :)

And beware the break from the fandom. It's a little like sitting down on the couch between workouts. You may never get up again. I'm finding it awfully hard...

Thank you! :D I need to figure out how to portion out the work.

Regarding fandom ... you have a point. I just don't know if I really *want* to get back into it. I still have a lot of unresolved bitterness, and I don't want to end up being an albatross around other people's necks.

Edited to add: what is that icon from? I'm very curious!

[identity profile] tipper-green.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
I know. I'm forcing myself through a story right now, but I don't know if it's any good. I still love Rodney McKay like anything, though, and that's helping a great deal. :)

I took a break from M7 for a long time, and, going back, I've been reading little stories here and there written over the last four years or so, and I'm totally feeling the love again. I think you'll discover someday, maybe when watching a rerun one night, or rereading an old fic of yours, that, yeah, you really did love writing for this show, and it'll all come rushing back...

The icon? Lightning in a bottle! I capped it from a painting that was in Nature or a similar journal. I'll email it to you. It's a really cute painting.
