Okay I saw amnesia and I was like WHAT IF BIGGLES OR ERICH GOT MEMORY LOSS IN PALESTINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. But thats probably way to complicated for a short fic so ignore me ;D

ALSO for day 30 I was thinking - what would Fritz’s reaction be to his Uncle being sent to Sakhalin? Would he want Erich to shoot Biggles so his uncle can stay, or does he have so much faith in Biggles that he KNOWS Biggles will rescue Erich?? Because he got shirty after Biggles said he wasn’t going to rescue Erich so he probably felt betrayed. I’m so obsessed with the Erich-Fritz dynamic after reading Ysande’s BEAUTIFUL thoughts which I spent a good thirty minutes re-reading :D

OH NOOOOOO that is the most amazing thought, I am DEAD. I can't figure out which of them would be better for it, because either option is amazing. Biggles losing his memory and thinking he's really Brunow - this is legitimately SO SAD, especially when they send him on spying missions and he's actually spying! But he'd feel terrible about it and wouldn't be able to understand why! He's been doing this all along, right?? Talk about a way to throw von Stalhein off the scent, he's going to be so terribly confused as he tries to make sense out of Brunow suddenly not behaving suspiciously at all ...

And then there's Erich waking up in any one of his three identities with no knowledge of the others. What if he thinks he's really Sterne? Or El Shareef? He'd almost take down all his plans all on his own without Biggles having to do anything ...

(I love this, it is amazing, I want 20K of it immediately.)

I have several failed attempts at writing EvS suffering from the kind of amnesia that makes him think he's really Major Sterne, but not set during Flies East, that is a fantastic concept.

Biggles thinking he's really Brunow, though, oh my poor heart, that would be awful, I need to read it at once...

I want EVERY flavor of this particular cake! There's also the option of Biggles and EvS both losing their memories at once, although this would require both of them running into the same handwavium at the same time (cursed rock in the desert or something) but imagine Biggles thinking he's Brunow, EvS thinking he's either Sterne or El Shareef (or having forgotten about his alternate identities entirely) and both of them having to figure out what relationship they have from total guesswork, and largely guessing wrong ...

Okay but my fav so far has to be that Biggles has amnesia and vaguely recognises Major Sterne, and Algy keeps trying to explain how he is an evil German spy and Biggles is like no, I trust him, we have a connection.

I CAN’T DECIDE whether Erich will be too good to take advantage of Biggles’ amnesia, or he will use it cunningly to his advantage. He’s such a complex character ;D

Oh that would be heartbreaking! Erich would be so confused, especially if the setting was in the desert. He probably enjoyed his time as Major Sterne, so his reaction to coming back to real time would be honestly heart rending.

What if Erich thinks he’s Sterne and it’s Algy he pairs off with and later he meets Biggles and there’s *something* there but no, Algy’s the one who’s been with him the whole way, there’s absolutely no way something soul-deep could be drawing him towards Algy’s friend who looks unnervingly familiar…

Oh my goodness YES Algy is a NECESSITY in this scenario.

What if ALGY AND ERICH had amnesia and they bond and Biggles is so happy to see them be friends!! This could happen in any timeframe as well XD

Okay, I am now completely CHARMED by the idea of Algy and EvS both having amnesia together in the post-Hatchet era and concluding that they must be friends because they clearly know each other and seem to be working together. <3

Then they get back to normal and are suitably horrified. XD But also they now know they work well together, o no.
