No True Pair Sept 2 (Biggles/Erich)
September Two - Biggles & Erich - "fragile smile"
This one is a small missing scene for Of Last Resort, the one in which Erich is shot during Foreign Legionnaire.
It was clear that Erich was drifting, losing his grasp on the conversation. Biggles only then realized that his hand was resting on Erich's neck, fingers moving lightly — he truly hadn't known he was doing it, brushing his fingertips across Erich's slightly sweat-damp, cool skin; and he stopped, only to have the exhausted blue-grey eyes turn towards him.
He could lose himself in those eyes. He always had.
"You don't need to make any decisions," he said, trying to hold Erich's interest for just a moment longer, not let him slip away again quite so soon. "There's all the time in the world. No one is going to make you do anything, not while I have a say in it. If they do," he added, with a smile he couldn't quite help, his fingers sliding lightly down Erich's pulse point, "send them to talk to me."
Unexpectedly, given the uneasy tenor of their conversation, Erich's dry, cracked lips tugged in a smile. It was sweet and somehow fragile, and it was a startling glimpse of the person he had been all those years ago. Biggles felt as if he had last seen that smile inviting him to — something, a different future, perhaps, in a castle long ago.
"I'd like to see that," Erich whispered, still smiling. Still him, after all these years.
Biggles ran his fingers lightly down Erich's neck, all the way to the collarbone. "Sleep and get well," he whispered, and leaned forward to press his lips to Erich's sweat-damp forehead.

Such a lovely moment of care and gentleness, and a forehead kiss too <333. And I love the casting back to their earlier days when they could smile more easily at each other. Gorgeous!

I went and made Erich's already terrible life circa Foreign Legionnaire EVEN WORSE in that fic, so it's only fair if he gets a little petting and a forehead kiss too.

Considering that I stomped on Erich even harder than canon actually did at that point in time, he deserves a forehead kiss. <3
