Day 10: "I won't leave you"
Back to Biggles again! Shocking! This might be considered an outtake from a bigger fic, since I love the idea of writing this particular scenario at full length - but not right now.

The bomb was the size of a suitcase, and it was locked to von Stalhein's upper chest with a steel cable held with a padlock, which was then wound around his wrists to hold them tightly behind him. The cable was threaded through the guts of the bomb. Biggles crouched to look at it.
"Don't get close," von Stalhein said through a tightly clenched jaw.
"Don't move," was Biggles's reply. Deep in concentration, he traced the wires with his eyes, sucking his teeth.
"Do you know anything at all about bombs, Bigglesworth?"
"Not as such, but I do know something about aeroplane engines, and this doesn't look that different."
Von Stalhein closed his eyes briefly. His expression said very clearly that he was convinced he was going to die.
"Erich," Biggles said. When von Stalhein opened his eyes, Biggles gave him a quick grin. "Don't give up. I'm not. We'll get out of this."
"There is no we here," von Stalhein said tightly. "One of us can leave. You should go."
"Not without you," Biggles said simply, and went back to examining the bomb.
Previous days:
Day 1: Hypothermia (Biggles)
Day 4: Shortness of Breath (Biggles)
Day 5: "I hate you!" (Biggles) (Also on AO3 - "Gold from Sand")
