AU Exchange wrap-up
I realized that I forgot to rec my AMAZING gift:
A Strange Alliance by
After the debacle with the Foreign Legion falls through and Biggles, von Stalhein, Ginger and the others are forced to hide out in the abandoned castle full of snakes, spiders and scorpions, one of those comes to bite them, literally.
The ending of Foreign Legionnaire with SCORPION STINGS. Glorious h/c with really well-drawn psychological insights as well! It fits perfectly with the book, in the best and most h/c-riffic possible way.
And I wrote:
Allies of Circumstances (6500 wds, gen)
Biggles and von Stalhein find their cat-and-mouse spy games interrupted by a crashed alien spaceship.
The end of Flies East, except at the point when they've both figured each other out, things are derailed completely by an alien spaceship in the desert.
So I wrote that, and then I got completely distracted by a prompt in AU Fest for an arranged marriage with these two, which is something I had been wanting to write anyway - and then the collection opening was delayed for a week and it got away from me and I ended up writing over 20K of it. Oops?
Something Old, Something New (22K, Biggles/EvS)
In order to stay in Britain after the events of Biggles Buries a Hatchet, von Stalhein must wed a British subject.
The slow burn 1950s arranged-marriage get-together fic I needed, apparently.

And I loved the aliens too, and the scorpion. I am so delighted that there seems to be a general agreement in the fandom that all Biggles fics need to be at minimum 20% h/c by weight :-D

I thoroughly approve of this development. May it never change. :D
... but yeah, your prompt was gloriously, perfectly relevant to my interests. I've been kind of vaguely craving arranged marriage/marriage of circumstance for them, but this apparently was what it took to get me to write it! They're just so ideally suited to the tangled mix of pining, yearning, and general miscommunication that this concept requires.
Your chapter-by-chapter comments were amazing and I'm still happily rolling around in them!
