Dear Fic in a Box creator
Hello, Fic in a Box creator! I hope you enjoy writing for me! I'm excited and delighted to see what you come up with.
I have extra gifts turned on and I welcome treats.
General likes: hurt/comfort, fluff, angst with a happy or hopeful ending, found family, curtainfic/domesticity, characters hanging out together (getting drinks after work, playing games, etc), casefic/action, presumed dead, missing scenes, futurefic, loyalty, antagonists/rivals/enemies to friends (/lovers), bickering/banter, AUs, forced cohabiting (tents, hotel rooms, only one bed). In general, two of my VERY favorite relationship dynamics are characters evolving from being hostile to friendly, with all the intermediate steps in between; and characters being "weird" about each other (ship or not) in a slightly codependent/up-in-each-other's-space way that outsiders don't quite understand. I also really love tropey fic (sex pollen! bodyswap! soulbonding! amnesia! werewolves!). I don't mind violence/gore/horror, but would like an optimistic ending.

This year I'm doing something a bit different and basing my prompts off tags that I liked from freeform tag exchanges in the past year. Technically, most of these are from Writing Rainbow, with some pulled from H/C-Ex, Id Pro Quo, and others. They just make such good prompts. I've expanded a bit on what I like about them as well as what I like about the requested pairings.
As always, these are just suggestions; feel free to take anything from my general likes, mix and match requests between different fandoms, or just go off on your own idea if you think it's something I'd like!

DNW for this canon: Sam or Bucky outright hating Zemo; I liked the cautious friendliness they had developed by the end of their time together in canon. Prickly caution, temporary feelings of betrayal, or having reasons to distrust each other is fine, but what I really don't want is fic that leans hard into them hating each other or ends with them in a worse place than they started out.
Sam and Bucky's bickery friendship is delightful, and Zemo is such a fun, chaotic weirdo to add to the mix. I don't need a good explanation for why they'd be working together again post-canon. It's fine to just put them in the Nebulous Zemo Parole Universe where he's out again for ~reasons~.
Of course, if you do want to deal with it, that's great too - maybe he escapes from prison and Sam & Bucky have to hunt him down, or he escapes and comes to them for help.
I'm fine if some subset of the trio is featured more heavily - it doesn't need to be all three with equal prominence, especially if you're writing multiple fics for me. I'm also fine with every flavor of relationship from gen to "we're not sure what this is" to a one-time hookup to fuckbuddies catching feelings to full-on OT3; I just don't want them ending up in a worse place than they started out.

Public flogging for Raft prisoners? Gimme.

I just feel like seeing literally ANY of them get an unexpected hug from one of the others would make my day. Sam and Bucky are more emotionally open; Zemo is more weirdly touchy-feely but not necessarily in that way ... unless there are extenuating circumstances. A brief hug after presumed dead, anyone? Someone getting really bad news and getting an unexpected hug?

(Super high-tech handcuffs meant to hold Bucky or resist lockpicking? Also good. High-tech handcuffs that deliver anti-tampering shocks? Excellent.)

Look, I'm just saying, throw allllll the prison trauma at me and I will be delighted. The entire trio have their own various levels of trauma/PTSD/etc that don't negate the others' experiences, either, so I'm pretty much here for however much of this you want to give me. I do have a particular soft spot for touch-starved Zemo, but they're all in need of petting and cuddles and I would be happy with anything from full-on OT3 cuddle pile to e.g. one of them noticing the other one is a little flinchy when touched and wanting to find out what's up with that.
Undercover - Forced to hurt friend or loved one to keep cover
Undercover - Reformed former bad guy has to go undercover as a bad guy
Always a classic, especially for these three, with the extra frisson of not being entirely sure if Zemo is actually on their side or not. Zemo doesn't have to be in the undercover role; it would also be really interesting to see Sam or Bucky play the heavy, or Bucky go undercover as the Winter Soldier again - perhaps Zemo's feelings about it are more conflicted this time.

But also, just general casefics, aftermath fics for plotty developments, or domesticity/downtime are good too!

DNW for this canon: Anything to do with von Stalhein in WW2, please. Let's just pretend he was a double agent for Britain/vanished into a black hole for the duration/etc.
Biggles and von Stalhein are just so AMAZINGLY weird about each other. It's clear that they find each other magnetic from the moment that they first meet, and their incredibly slow burn, one step forward and three steps back enemy-to-friend dance throughout canon is gloriously relevant to my id.
The prompts below are, in many cases, somewhat more suited to Biggles and Erich than to the other requested characters, but I would be incredibly happy with any of the pairings that I asked for! I've become very interested in the whole idea of Algy and von Stalhein as uneasy allies-of-circumstances whose only real thing in common is their shared affection for Biggles, having to deal with that and perhaps getting stuck in a perilous situation of their own (and, not gonna lie, I would be very VERY happy if they develop some reluctant friendship feelings of their own along the way, though they don't have to). I just find their interactions really neat. And I love the Biggles-EvS-Marie dynamic.
So basically please feel free to use any of these prompts for any requested relationships in any way that works for you! Mixing and matching pairings is also fine, e.g. an Algy & von Stalhein fic with background Biggles/EvS or Biggles/EvS/Marie.
And I am also completely THERE for post-canon aftermath with a happy OT3 ending with Biggles/Erich/Marie; it gives me all the warm feelings. (Bonus: EvS feeling like he's a third wheel and attempting to nobly step out of the way so they can be happy, maybe even trying to sacrifice himself for them, and then finding out the feelings are mutual.)
Character sees enemy hurting and has unexpected feelings about it
One variant of this that I really crave is von Stalhein actually managing to hurt Biggles, or thinking he's actually killed him, and finding himself shocked by how upset he is. There are a number of times in canon when he seems to be seriously trying to hurt or kill him, and Biggles escapes solely by luck or by generally being Biggles. But what if he didn't miss? EvS having to deal with a badly wounded prisoner Biggles, or with the guilt of thinking he had killed him, would be glorious.
Frankly I think Biggles already KNOWS that he'd be terribly upset if he actually hurt EvS, but I'm also entirely here for it. Biggles semi-accidentally shooting him and then taking him home to recuperate is entirely in character.
This would also work well with Algy and von Stalhein, in either direction - Algy finally getting in a position of power over an injured EvS and realizing that he's not enjoying it as much as he thought he would, or EvS feeling reluctantly responsible for Algy because he's important to Biggles.

Unexpected Kindness From An Enemy
Didn’t think anyone would come
One of the things that gets to me most about von Stalhein is how absolutely alone he is, especially later in canon when he's a soldier of fortune and Soviet agent. And it's clear that he likes being part of something bigger than himself and doesn't want to be that way, but feels like he doesn't have a choice. So putting him in a scenario where he believes he's all alone, would be abandoned, couldn't count on help, and then actually getting help from Biggles & crew would be amazing.
But it could also work the other way around, if Biggles was in danger and EvS rescued him, or with EvS and Algy. EvS rescuing Algy for some reason, and Algy's absolute nonplusedness at that, would be pure gold. I just love all variants on this.

Claiming prisoner/warprize/etc to save them from worse fate
Hello, my id. This can go as hard on the abused/mistreated prisoner end of things as you like, although it doesn't have to. But if they've had nothing but horrible treatment and think it can only be worse in the hands of their new handler/captor/purchaser, that's highly relevant to my interests.
This can be essentially real-world-based - a turn-left-at-canon AU in which EvS or Biggles gets found out and taken as a prisoner in Flies East, say, or Biggles & co. finding a captive EvS during the postwar years. Or it can go on wild flights of iddy fancy - SURE, maybe the Soviets keep sex slaves and EvS ends up as one of them, or Biggles is captured by his enemies and auctioned off to the highest bidder and EvS steps in as one of them; why not?

I'm just saying, this would be amazing with Biggles & EvS, or EvS & Algy. The epic bickering! Bonus points if at least one of them is hurt and therefore slowing the other down, and extra extra bonus points if they're trying to hide it. Bonus points for Biggles or Algy having to fly a plane when he can only use one hand (while injured? concussed?) and the other hand is attached to EvS at the time.

LOOK, a slow-burn marriage AU with Biggles having to honorably marry EvS to prevent him from being deported, both of them thinking the other one doesn't want it and pining like an entire pine forest would be highly relevant to my interests, I'm just saying. Or maybe it's an AU in which WWI can be averted or the armistice sealed by marrying off a representative of the Prussian nobility to Biggles or whoever for reasons.

Gabriel Argent & Max & Cassandra Morales
Gabriel and Max's amazing intensity about each other, protectiveness for each other, and general loyalty won me utterly. I'll be delighted with gen, ship, or some intermediate hybrid, get-together fic or established relationship or "we just hook up sometimes"; I think it's clear that they are each other's Most Important Person regardless of the actual nature of the relationship.
Most of the prompts are more suited to Max & Gabriel and are largely picked out for them, but I really love Cassandra as well, and would be happy having her there in any capacity! More fic dealing with their road trip would be delightful (Cassandra POV on Max getting shot? Their first night camping out - having to split camp chores and share tents and so forth?), as would Cassandra coming back into their lives after the events of Dragon Coast. I really liked the tentative friendships that were developing and would like to see that continue.
Also, with this canon in particular, I have a craving for long, plotty fic set either post-canon or during the 10-year gap when Gabriel was reforming the Department of Water and Power and, presumably, fielding attempts on his life every second Tuesday.

A bouquet of hand-selected h/c tags. Gabriel of course has a canonical head injury, which I would be delighted with all the aftermath for. It occurs to me that a poisoning is an extremely logical thing to happen to someone who has to field assassination attempts all the time - or maybe Max gets poisoned in his place, or someone else realizes that taking out Max is a necessary first step in getting to Gabriel? Or Cassandra shows up on Gabriel's doorstep, poisoned or otherwise injured with nowhere else to go? (In general the idea of Cassandra being hurt or otherwise vulnerable and needing their help is very delightful to me - she's seen both of them in a vulnerable situation, but the reverse hasn't been true.) Obviously don't feel like you need to be constrained by the above scenarios.
I also feel that any of these people would absolutely ignore the fact that they're injured/hurt/sick right up until the point where they collapse. (I mean, this is 100% canonical for Max.)

I just find their interactions really neat. And I love the Biggles-EvS-Marie dynamic.
So basically please feel free to use any of these prompts for any requested relationships in any way that works for you! Mixing and matching pairings is also fine, e.g. an Algy & von Stalhein fic with background Biggles/EvS or Biggles/EvS/Marie.
And I am also completely THERE for post-canon aftermath with a happy OT3 ending with Biggles/Erich/Marie; it gives me all the warm feelings. (Bonus: EvS feeling like he's a third wheel and attempting to nobly step out of the way so they can be happy, maybe even trying to sacrifice himself for them, and then finding out the feelings are mutual.)

One variant of this that I really crave is von Stalhein actually managing to hurt Biggles, or thinking he's actually killed him, and finding himself shocked by how upset he is. There are a number of times in canon when he seems to be seriously trying to hurt or kill him, and Biggles escapes solely by luck or by generally being Biggles. But what if he didn't miss? EvS having to deal with a badly wounded prisoner Biggles, or with the guilt of thinking he had killed him, would be glorious.
Frankly I think Biggles already KNOWS that he'd be terribly upset if he actually hurt EvS, but I'm also entirely here for it. Biggles semi-accidentally shooting him and then taking him home to recuperate is entirely in character.
This would also work well with Algy and von Stalhein, in either direction - Algy finally getting in a position of power over an injured EvS and realizing that he's not enjoying it as much as he thought he would, or EvS feeling reluctantly responsible for Algy because he's important to Biggles.

One of the things that gets to me most about von Stalhein is how absolutely alone he is, especially later in canon when he's a soldier of fortune and Soviet agent. And it's clear that he likes being part of something bigger than himself and doesn't want to be that way, but feels like he doesn't have a choice. So putting him in a scenario where he believes he's all alone, would be abandoned, couldn't count on help, and then actually getting help from Biggles & crew would be amazing.
But it could also work the other way around, if Biggles was in danger and EvS rescued him, or with EvS and Algy. EvS rescuing Algy for some reason, and Algy's absolute nonplusedness at that, would be pure gold. I just love all variants on this.

Hello, my id. This can go as hard on the abused/mistreated prisoner end of things as you like, although it doesn't have to. But if they've had nothing but horrible treatment and think it can only be worse in the hands of their new handler/captor/purchaser, that's highly relevant to my interests.
This can be essentially real-world-based - a turn-left-at-canon AU in which EvS or Biggles gets found out and taken as a prisoner in Flies East, say, or Biggles & co. finding a captive EvS during the postwar years. Or it can go on wild flights of iddy fancy - SURE, maybe the Soviets keep sex slaves and EvS ends up as one of them, or Biggles is captured by his enemies and auctioned off to the highest bidder and EvS steps in as one of them; why not?

I'm just saying, this would be amazing with Biggles & EvS, or EvS & Algy. The epic bickering! Bonus points if at least one of them is hurt and therefore slowing the other down, and extra extra bonus points if they're trying to hide it. Bonus points for Biggles or Algy having to fly a plane when he can only use one hand (while injured? concussed?) and the other hand is attached to EvS at the time.

Gabriel and Max's amazing intensity about each other, protectiveness for each other, and general loyalty won me utterly. I'll be delighted with gen, ship, or some intermediate hybrid, get-together fic or established relationship or "we just hook up sometimes"; I think it's clear that they are each other's Most Important Person regardless of the actual nature of the relationship.
Most of the prompts are more suited to Max & Gabriel and are largely picked out for them, but I really love Cassandra as well, and would be happy having her there in any capacity! More fic dealing with their road trip would be delightful (Cassandra POV on Max getting shot? Their first night camping out - having to split camp chores and share tents and so forth?), as would Cassandra coming back into their lives after the events of Dragon Coast. I really liked the tentative friendships that were developing and would like to see that continue.
Also, with this canon in particular, I have a craving for long, plotty fic set either post-canon or during the 10-year gap when Gabriel was reforming the Department of Water and Power and, presumably, fielding attempts on his life every second Tuesday.

A bouquet of hand-selected h/c tags. Gabriel of course has a canonical head injury, which I would be delighted with all the aftermath for. It occurs to me that a poisoning is an extremely logical thing to happen to someone who has to field assassination attempts all the time - or maybe Max gets poisoned in his place, or someone else realizes that taking out Max is a necessary first step in getting to Gabriel? Or Cassandra shows up on Gabriel's doorstep, poisoned or otherwise injured with nowhere else to go? (In general the idea of Cassandra being hurt or otherwise vulnerable and needing their help is very delightful to me - she's seen both of them in a vulnerable situation, but the reverse hasn't been true.) Obviously don't feel like you need to be constrained by the above scenarios.
I also feel that any of these people would absolutely ignore the fact that they're injured/hurt/sick right up until the point where they collapse. (I mean, this is 100% canonical for Max.)

I may have an entire plot in my head for Max thinking Gabriel is dead and showing up to murder everyone he believes (accurately) is behind it, only to find out that it's an elaborate scheme in which Gabriel is actually being held prisoner and Max gets thrown in with him and finds out that Gabriel also thought Max was dead and was at the nadir of hope because of that. Is it complicated? Yes. Does it make sense? Possibly not. Do I want to write it? Also yes.

This exchange has an unusual rule in which the amount you put in is the amount you get back (up to 10K anyway, beyond that is at your discretion). The technical minimum is 10K, which is - a lot - but ACTUALLY, you can default on any amount of that. So, for example, if you write a 2K fic and don't feel like you have any more in you, you can default on the remaining 8K with no penalty except that you won't go out to pinch hit for anything above the 2K you wrote. (But your writer can go ahead and write you 10K, that part is something that doesn't really matter except to the extent that you won't be guaranteed that amount if they drop out.)
You can also break it down into any number of any length of fic (minimum 1K). So, for example, you could write one 10K fic ... but you could also write three 2K fic and default on the remaining 4K, or five 2K fic for the full 10K. Basically, it's called Fic in a Box because it's a 10K-sized box that you can fill up Tetris-style with any-sized fics, or even choose to leave part of it empty. (Or you could end up writing 15K and fill the whole box and then some!)
I know it sounds a bit complicated, and it is, but it actually gives you a lot of flexibility! That's part of why I signed up - I know that if I get hit with Life and can't meet the full 10K, then I can default on part of it and I'll still be fine for the rest that I did write.
