Exchange fever

fandomgrowthexchange nominations close today in a few hours! (Midnight UTC - I think that's about 3 or 4 hours from now.)

Fandom Growth Exchange is an exchange for fandoms, characters, or pairings who have less than 10 fics total (or more than 10 but less than 5 authors). So it's kind of like a more limited Yuletide, but it also means you can ask for pairings from extremely large fandoms if your faves are never written together.

I've never done it before, but I think this year I probably will because I actually have a decent enough slate of tiny fandoms or very rarepairs to put a signup together.

... at which point I'm DEFINITELY not allowed to sign up for anything else EVER until I write more of the things I'm supposed to write.

Anyway, since this is an exchange for ultra-tiny fandoms, if you might want to do it you should definitely nominate your Things because they almost certainly won't be in there otherwise.

I said that if there was one thing that I had not nominated that I was genuinely excited about, I'd give it a go, but it's not looking good on that point. Fic in a Box has a lot of overlap, too, so I might sit this year out on FG.

Oh man, I forgot Fic in a Box is coming up! That was incredible fun last year.

They haven't posted a schedule yet, but indicated it'd be same or similar as last year, which had nominations opening in two weeks. FFFX also hasn't posted a schedule, that I've seen, but should be out any day now. I wasn't thinking of doing that one as I found the timeline too long. Might pinch hit.

Yeah, last year I did all three 10K exchanges ... and that was definitely at least one 10K exchange too many. I don't plan to do FFFX at this time, although I think a lot of my signup decisions on those high-minimum exchanges will be driven in large part by who else signs up and whether I'd have an assignment I'm excited about writing.

Yeah, honestly, "I'm not going to sign up for anything!" usually lasts until I see someone else asking for my blorbo of the moment.

It usually works out to not signing up for the thing, because I don't share fandoms with literally anyone else in exchange fandom, but planes blorbo may change this.

I keep checking out tagsets of exchanges and seeing that people who are not me have nominated Biggles! This one and the pining one and the AU one... each time it makes me grin. I will have to think about what I dare sign up for, normally I don't do a lot of exchanges but then, normally I don't see my OTP in all the exchanges!
