I'm so fascinated by this. There has got to be a story here. Roman-era urban fantasy, anyone?

The Last Human (in a Crowded Galaxy)
Absolutely adorable webcomic about a vicious alien spider predator adopting a human baby and then having to figure out how to deal with things like, say ... are their mouth bones supposed to fall out?! Eventually it grows a plot involving other alien parents/kids and becomes, if possible, even cuter. There is also a book, which the comic is apparently adapted from, and while I feel as if prose can't possibly capture the utter charm of the illustrations, I went ahead and bought it because the comic is in mid-storyline and I'm desperate to know what happens next!

Fanart of the Avengers in medieval fantasy style. These are amazing. I can't get over the detail.

Scrapes data from all recent exchanges to find all requests for a given fandom or character. (I did notice that it currently default-sorts by due date, so if for whatever reason an exchange doesn't have a due date, it comes up on top even if it's over. That's pretty minor though.)

Putting here for my information mostly, so I can find it later - a Kindle genre analysis service for authors, similar to K-lytics, that I'm thinking I might look into possibly using. Or at least look through their free data to see if any of it is relevant to my own market research.

It's not clear from the article about the magic kit, but possibly they were also charms for sale, if there were so many. You can still buy that kind of thing everywhere, though it's mostly on-line now.

Oh, that's an interesting point about the kit being items for sale! I can totally see that; it was definitely the kind of thing that ancient Rome absolutely would have had - they were into all kinds of easy-to-buy magic charms and curses and that sort of thing.

The lead curse tablets from the Roman-era hot springs in Bath are absolutely fascinating! I was there a couple of years ago with a friend, and after we went to the Museum of East Asian Art and discovered that it had been robbed a few months before, we suggested to the Museum staff that they might want to consult the people at the Roman Baths museum about getting a curse tablet of their own, asking Sulis Minerva to do something about the thief. We agreed that of the two Patronesses of Bath, Jane Austen would probably not be the one to consult about criminous activity...

I tried to see if there's a feed for the last human (which is super cute), but I'm really vague about feeds and couldn't figure out how to set one up on my DW blog. It's not an existing DW feed. Plus might not be possible due to the host site webtoons.

Hahahaha, I relate to both of these sentiments. XD The art is so pretty though! That artist is amazingly good; she's a professional illustrator and will drop these unbelievable works of fanart that must have taken untold hours to create.

It's so cute! I'll report back after reading the book; I glanced over it a bit in the bookstore and I think it might work better as a comic than as text, but I'll find out when I read it once I'm done with my current book pile.
