My SGA squee manifesto *g*
This is adapted from comments I've written elsewhere...
Knowing that the next 14 episodes are all we're going to get (barring possible movies), I am absolutely determined to wring every possible bit of pure distilled happy out of the rest of the season. We still have well over half a season to go, including what appear to be some truly kick-ass episodes coming up, and damned if I'm going to let MGM/Sci-Fi's marketing decisions affect my ability to enjoy them. What we've got left is more than some shows get; it's more than a book or a movie, and I've enjoyed those just fine, even knowing they're finite.
I plan on watching those episodes, and squeeing over them wholeheartedly, and writing tags and just generally getting the most out of them, and the fandom, that I possibly can. Knowing that there won't be more, and having them spread over a number of weeks rather than crammed into a marathon watching session (like I always do if I have the whole season at my fingertips all at once *g*) I'm really going to try to savor and enjoy and get the most I possibly can out of my watching experience. I'm going to try to write my fanfic ideas now, and read as much fic as I can, just in case my interest wanders on and there *isn't* a later.
What we've got right now is a heads-up about the end, but we've still got a lot of show, a lot of fanning, to go. And I don't want to let the knowledge of the show's end spoil my enjoyment of what's left.
I swear that I'm not trying to downplay or devalue anyone's grief and pain. Trust me, I'm feeling it too. I don't expect people to be all-positive-all-the-time in any of these discussions. You can come looking for hugs and cookies if you need them, or come to vent and cry. That's fine with me.
But I do plan on putting up relatively cheerful squee-posts until the end of the season. What you do with them is, of course, up to you. Nobody will be kicked out for being sad. *I'm* sad. But fandom is my happy place, and I plan to keep on making it my happy place, no matter what those corporate execs do to our show.
And, like I was discussing in the comments to the last post, I absolutely want to borrow an idea from SG1 fandom. After their series ended, they started rewatching an episode a week and discussing them/sharing fanworks at
redial_the_gate. I want to do an SGA version of that. (Name ideas, anyone?) It's been awhile since "Rising", and I like to think of all the tags that could be written *now*, knowing what we know about where it's all headed.
Thank you very much to everyone who stopped by my last post, and to everyone who's put up support and commiseration posts for the fandom in general - I still think this is a wonderful fandom, no matter what, and I love being here, and I don't plan to go anywhere.
