Our SGA Big Bang story is LIVE!

Title: A Clear and Different Light
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] naye and [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper
Word Count: 88,000
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard (with lots of team)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Rodney McKay, raised by a pod of telepathic whales. John Sheppard, mage with fae blood. Teyla Emmagan, rune-scientist. Ronon Dex, winged soldier. On the waystation of Atlantis, they're about to become embroiled in an age-old war against a brutal enemy.
Beautifully illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] bellewhan and [livejournal.com profile] cynicatlantis!

Main [livejournal.com profile] sgabigbang website is here and the AU subsection is here. The site is gorgeous this year!

We have a feedback post in [livejournal.com profile] sgabigbangfb. Please don't feedback the story here; please leave feedback at our feedback post so that both authors will be able to see and respond to it!

Edit: Some of the bugs are still being worked out of the website, and it appears that our section breaks, i.e. the *hr* tags, don't appear in most of the skins on the site. On my browser (Firefox, Mac) the only skin that displays the section breaks is "Quite Content". So it's recommended that you use that skin to view the story for the least confusing reading experience. *g* This appears to have been fixed! Let me know if you experience any additional formatting problems when you read it, and I'll ... uh. Stare at the screen and weep, because there's not a whole lot else I can do. XD But, no, seriously, if you have trouble viewing the story for whatever reason, leave a comment and I'll see what the mods can do to fix it.

Edit2: [livejournal.com profile] naye has a small preview of the story at her journal, if you'd like a taste!

So much to read, and so much to look at! And our art is *lovely*, and so is the site!

I know! So, so excited - I've looked at the art now, and I am gobsmacked by the pretty. ♥ And the zombie.

WHALES AND ZOMBIES.

...our BRAINS...!

... at least there are no zombie whales...?

Or ninjas.

Aadskhjghkjskh YOU MADE PRETTY RODNEY ICON! *paws* (You beat me to it! *g*)

...what do we do NOW? After all this time, it's actually posted. And we don't have anything more to do on it. At all. I'm all - confused! XD (You'd think I would've gotten over it in the time since final deadline, but - no, no, apparently it's not that easy.)

That's actually what I called the icon, "pretty Rodney". XD Because he is! (Feel free to snitch. Though I'm sure you'll be making your own too!)

Our baby story is all grown up and out the door. It doesn't need us anymore!

Pretty Rodney! \o/ (I had to pay LJ money to be able to upload it, but it was worth it!)

Awww, look at it - off with all the other big stories...! *sniffles*

And now I have to go to WORK! But... the stories! All the stories!

I'm so looking forward to reading this story. And the others. So many great authors, it's amazing. And the pretty fanart ... I love this fandom so much right now. :-)

Thank you! I love this fandom right now, too - I'm so happy to be here!

[identity profile] jimandblair.livejournal.com 2008-08-15 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
can you get on the website or is it down for you at the moment? (I know that you're usually up late). This is a special sort of frustration -- finally I can read but then I can't access the site.
ext_1981: (Team Love)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2008-08-15 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's weird! It's working fine for me - I don't know why it's not working for you. :\

Frustration indeed! I don't even know what to suggest ... maybe a note to the mods? (Though they're awfully busy at the moment.) Or maybe see if the direct links work if the main site doesn't?

I hope you can get it to work! Aargh!

(And thank you again for the gorgeous, gorgeous art. *stares at pretty Rodney some more*)

on further investigation it appears to be an issue with my provider -- every now and again the US sites are inaccessible. Usually this happens on a Saturday, though.

*admits to saying a few bad words*

Oh vex! I hope it resolves itself quickly!

I put feedback in the proper place, but I just had to come over here and say that I'm still flaily with happiness.
ext_1981: (Wiseguy-manly bonding)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2008-08-15 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
*flails with you* Thank you so much! :D Yep, just saw the other feedback too - that makes me so happy, especially since I know you don't normally read McKay/Sheppard (though really, this one ended up one tiny step away from being OT4 anyway...). And I can't wait to read you guys' story - just the summary makes me squeak. (Rodney! Teyla! Baby!) STUPID WORK! Somehow I don't think my boss would accept Big Bang as a reason for time off...

[identity profile] darkrosetiger.livejournal.com 2008-08-17 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
My big problem with John/Rodney is that so often, Teyla and Ronon are relegated to supporters of the Big Gay Love. I knew you wouldn't do that. *g* And I was blown away by the worldbuilding, to the point where I actually had nightmares about your Wraith. If the Wraith in the show were like that, they'd actually be, you know, scary instead of mockable Goth-wannabes.

That summary alone is a thing of wonder! I can't wait to read. :D

Congratulations!!! \o/

Also, it might be that they've worked out the bugs or it might be that my browser works different, but at least on Windows Firefox 2.0 all the scene breaks display fine in all the skins, I just checked...
ext_1981: (Team Love)

[identity profile] friendshipper.livejournal.com 2008-08-15 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I checked this morning and it looks like they fixed it - yay! (Poor mods.)

We couldn't have done it without all of the massively extensive (and fast!) assistance from you and [livejournal.com profile] gnine! You guys really went above and beyond the call of beta duty on this one.
