Yesterday I got the greenhouse cleaned up and ready for planting!



There are already some corn plants that I got at the farmer's market yesterday. We're supposed to have rainy weather this weekend, so it'll be good for transplanting and I think I'm going to try to get some more plants in.

Normally Memorial Day/the end of May is the approximate "safely past the frost" date for planting outside, but I think we're good for this year and I'd at least like to get some salad stuff in this weekend.

I also tried taking some pictures of the beavers a couple of evenings ago, when they were out and about in the creek, but my camera kept focusing on the brush so all I got was some blurry vaguely Bigfoot-like beaver cryptid images. This is probably the one that came out most recognizable.



Edit: I just put these photos on my infrequently updated author blog as well (gotta do something with it), and can I just say how much I haaaate Wordpress's "blocks" editing interface, with every paragraph a completely separate object. It's not just clunky but also buggy, and tends to do things like delete your captions if you start typing them while the image is still uploading. UGH. WORDPRESS WHY.

Very cool to have beavers nearby. I've never seen one in RL, though they say that around ten years ago they started to migrate back into my city and supposedly there are now a couple of beaver lodges along suitable water ways again. Though I think if I saw a cryptic largish aquatic rodent from afar I'd first assume it was an invasive nutria anyway. Those are doing really well here even though they kill a lot of them, because they dig up dykes and damage flood protections.

I like your picture of a beaver. That's the only way I've seen them and muskrats - swimming away at speed.

That's such a nice greenhouse!

The beavers in Toronto are practically domesticated! *laughing* We see them in the ravines around the city but also they live in the river streams going through some botanical gardens, and will literally pose for a picture a meter away from cooing humans. (Not a good idea to approach, but still :D )

Neat! We have beavers here but I rarely see them, just the results of their activities.

And I just realized that I did the thing Progeny does: on seeing an image of an animal, I prove I know what the animal is, possibly with a cute name for it: cat! bun! doggo!

Progeny is 20. I don't know why we're doing this as adults, but it is the Code of her people, and I have apparently learned it from her.
