A few other nice things

The [community profile] kingofexchanges collection is open, with 13 new Stephen King fanworks for your reading enjoyment!

I was just going to link to this vid, but figured I'd embed it instead:

What a lovely trip down anime memory lane, from the 1950s to now. Loads of my favorites in here - I grinned IRL when Captain Harlock showed up! (MY CHILDHOOD.) It was also really interesting to notice the point at which I stopped recognizing most of the anime; you can really tell that most of what I've seen is from the late 80s through the early 2000s.

Completely unrelated to that, I learned about the Isle of Nantes automata project (Machines de l’Ile) yesterday, and that's definitely one for the bucket list. It looks like the closest possible thing to stepping into a real-life steampunk world.

Darn. I wish they'd played the anime clips (presumably the vid was mostly clips) with original audio, rather than with music over. Blind as a bat here, and I do mean that, so I don't get much at all out of vids set to music, and I'm frankly curious to know which if any of the included series I knew from childhood.

Akycha and I just kept exclaiming when we saw something we recognized. Hitomi! Evangelion! UTENA AND ANTHY! The more recent stuff we were just like, That looks familiar! Etc. :) Also, I made a noise only dogs could hear when I saw the Yamato clip.
