ETA: So I've now learned that this is actually not the only survey they are showing people, so it's just the luck of the draw whether you get this one or one about, say, imitation meat. DAMMIT. Sorry guys, looks like Twitter is evil as usual, and got me. :/



If you're on Twitter, you might see a message appear in your feed asking you to take a survey. TAKE THE SURVEY. It is asking about misinformation and what, if anything, Twitter should do about it. It will start out asking demographic questions (which you'll have various options for giving non-answers to, if you don't want to disclose) and then move on to questions about misleading information and whether you support various options for getting rid of it, or think Twitter should do nothing.

It's all multiple choice except for one question at the end that asks you to give your own definition of misinformation. After thinking about it, I ended up filling in this:

Information known to be inaccurate and shared with intent to deceive and provoke an emotional or intellectual response to encourage a particular political or social outcome.

Anyway, giving Twitter some more data on their users actually wanting them to do something about this might be a good thing.

Oh yes, I hope many people care about this and support it...though surveys are always touch-and-go when it comes to this stuff. (I haven't gotten one that I'm aware of)

Yeah, who knows if it'll make a difference, but it'd be good to give them more data to work with ...

Haha. I don't know how many people they're showing things to, but it LOOKS quite shady when it shows up, or at least like one of those things that's a complete waste of time, but I actually think it's a useful one.

Yeah, I was highly skeptical when I saw it come up in my feed and was halfway convinced it was collecting data for nefarious purposes, but I ended up being glad I clicked on it! (I mean, it might still be collecting data for nefarious purposes, who knows, but at least there's a purpose I support.)

It totally looks like one! And I mean, for all I know, maybe they are collecting some of that data for not-so-great purposes. I mainly just clicked because I was curious, then allllmost noped out when it started asking for demographic data, but stuck with it and was ultimately glad I did.

I regret to inform you that the survey twitter gave me was about how well their ads for vegetarian meat products were working. I told them that I felt "very negatively" about Incogmeato, despite never having heard of it before, because anything with "-meato" in it sounds disgusting.
