More of Washington's (semi-competent) spies

• Wow, they really fucking went there with Mt. Vernon and Washington, didn't they? And also with the Washingtons' relatively privileged status compared to everyone else in camp. I feel as if the show started out just trying desperately not to get cancelled by saying anything Bad(tm) about the United States and has had increasingly few fucks to give over the last couple of seasons.
• There is a notable lack of Hewlett in these episodes. And no Rogers! I am also finding Anna's sidelining at the rebel camp both sad and boring - it's nice to see the more realistic side of camp life, but at the same time I liked it so much better when she was out doing spy stuff. I hope for better things ahead. (Please tell me NOTHING, not even hints! I want to be surprised!)
• The Richard-Abe spy comedy double act is AMAZING and I am so sad it's over now. That is some of the most fun I've had with this show. (Also, I just gotta say, even though Abe is not one of my favorites, the actor has the best comic timing and I really appreciate the episodes that showcase that. There were some good bits along those lines last season too - "Did you not hear my 'no'?!") And Richard's character development has been great.
• Simcoe's refinement from axe-crazy into a cheerfully polite, smiling and soft-spoken psychopath is really something. I know he is a complete fuckover of the historical Simcoe, but all those bits this season where he's like "May I do the thing? :D No you say? :D Okay yep doing the thing now :) HELLO IT IS I SIMCOE :)" are just ... wow. That actor has got to be having the time of his life.
• Also: number of people on this show who now have a very personal motive to murder Simcoe: nearly everyone.
• ALDIS HODGE WHAT THE FUCK. I thought he was gone for good. Actually, to be specific, I thought the actor had quit the show, with his abrupt disappearance a couple of seasons ago. Love his frontiersman getup.
• Things I didn't realize I needed to see: Martha Washington being delighted by a spork.
Please no spoilers for future episodes if you happen to know any, not even hints about which actors come back in future episodes. I am having a marvelous time being surprised.
