Photos of New York during the 1930s (Thrillist)
How to prepare for the end of the world - Not precisely what it sounds like; it's a profile of a woman who teaches a "back to the Stone Age" skill camp, and the very mixed bag of her followers. (NYT)
One white Southern woman and Trump - politics, but an interesting read. (Washington Post)
The Typecast Project: Actors of color photographed in typecast vs ideal roles. (Takes awhile to load; I came there via a Washington Post link with a smaller selection of photos.)
Subpar Parks - National parks illustrated with quotes from their one-star reviews (discovered via
scioscribe). I LOVE THIS. (Boredpanda; also on Instagram)

Love the Subpar Parks, lol!! The trees block the view? Lots of gray rocks? Well, what do you expect from a National park? Ferris wheels?! :D :D

Man, that Southern woman... I felt bad for her. Like I do actually think she should speak up more with her social circle - but it's tough, and especially not being able to trust your husband to like, see you as a full person.
The end of the world people were very interesting, though I like... deeply eyerolled at some of the conceptions of community in the article? In particular that the journalist bought into this "the city is isolating" thing without considering the very explicit class privilege that let her be alone - modernity alone doesn't bring TaskRabbits and delivery services. And like, there are no old people and very likely no disabled people in their community, which isn't necessarily a comment on them, but it does make me think... well, on a practical level there's still community care you're not providing at all and urban/modern life is providing at least a bit. It should do much better, I just question very rich dude specifically talking about not needing the "comfort" he's left behind while there are only young, fit, mostly rich people in the group. Just because you didn't need any of what you left behind...
