Major, major recent Doctor Who spoilers under the cut. Also general chatter about the current fate of an Iron Fist actor.

I'm still entire seasons behind on Doctor Who (loved the 12th Doctor, but was very meh about his first season and haven't seen beyond that yet) but I don't really try that hard to avoid spoilers for that show, and have now found out that Sacha Dhawan -- Davos on Iron Fist -- is playing the new regeneration of the Master.

GOOD FOR HIM! I wouldn't have guessed Sacha would be the first of the cast to show up in a high-profile role, but that's fantastic. He's so adorable and I think that the repressed-axe-crazy way he played Davos is very appropriate to the Master (and apparently so do the BBC casting people).

Anyway, it's always fun watching a whole new fandom discover an actor from a different fandom you're also in, and especially when it's a fan-favorite role like this one. But will it lead to people watching Iron Fist just for Davos, tho', and if so how disappointed are they going to be.

I haven't seen Iron Fist yet, so I (amusingly!) only knew him as the Waris Hussein, first director of Doctor Who in An Adventure in Time and Space. Which has led to arguments as to whether it counts to add him to the list of actors re-used in different DW roles.*






*I mostly think no, but keep persuading myself back the other way.

Ha, that's really interesting! I ... yeah, I don't know which side I'd come down on.

Also, I just went and Wikipedia'd Hussein's bio, and he sounds like a really fascinating guy! I had absolutely no idea the first Doctor Who director was a gay Indian dude.
