The Decade in Fandom (2010-2019)
Just for fun.
This isn't everything that I enjoyed by any means, but it's sort of an overview of what I was (for the most part) writing fanfic about in any given year.
2010
I had gotten on both Dreamwidth and AO3 in 2009, so 2010 was The Year Of Learning To Crosspost. I abandoned ff.net almost entirely (after having posted everything there in years prior).
I didn't really have a main fandom in 2010. I had just drifted out of SGA (though I was still sort of in it, but the show had been cancelled and I had major frustrations with the fandom and was just kind of not really happy about it in the same way). I got into Avatar: The Last Airbender this year. Going back through tags suggests that this was also the year I started reading the Benjamin January books. I did a Dresden Files reread and went through a brief period of writing fanfic for it.
2011
I got into Highlander (I think I had actually started watching it the year prior, but early 2011 was when I finished it and started reading and writing fic for it) and that was my major fandom for the early part of the year. And then I discovered White Collar and fell hard.
2012-13
All White Collar all the time.
2014
I was starting to drift out of White Collar by late season five due to frustration with both the show and the fandom, which meant I was fertile ground for a new fandom, and OH HEY, Winter Soldier came out in spring of that year, and I faceplanted in MCU in a major way. I'd been watching the movies since way back with IM1 (I mean really, I watched just about every superhero movie that came along) but in a not-very-engaged kind of way. I went to see CA:TWS three times in the theater, something I've only ever done with two other movies, and haven't really been out of various branches of MCU fandom since.
2015
Agent Carter happened to me. This is one of the few things I've ever really been into where I got in on the ground floor. I watched the first two episodes (they aired back to back) with the general expectation of not enjoying it all that much, because I hadn't really liked her that much as a character in the movies. (I know, I know.) And to my own shock, I loved it. Then 1x04-05 sealed my love, and I was pretty gone by the season one finale.
This was also the year I started writing for Zoe (in the spring) and fell hard into Amazon selfpub.
Also, I had a brief Star Wars resurgence due to the new movie coming out, and rewatching all the other ones and having Feelings.
2016
Season two of Agent Carter punched me in the heart, and that was my big fandom for the whole year. I also got into the DC TV shows with Legends of Tomorrow, Flash, and Supergirl, but not quite in the same way.
2017
I was in a sort of weird headspace following the election, and latched onto the Guardians of the Galaxy movies pretty hard because I was so taken with this wide gorgeous outer-space world where our world was just a footnote. That fall I got into both Dark Matter and Stranger Things. I was also still writing fic for Agent Carter. I think this was probably about the point where I switched over from serial fandom monogamy to being able to be really, truly into multiple active fandoms at once.
2018
I started off in the fandoms for the previous-listed shows (GotG, Agent Carter, Dark Matter, Stranger Things). This was the year I read All The Cherryh and wrote a bunch of Alliance-Union fic. I tentatively tried out the Netflix shows again (I had previous watched the first seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, then disliked DD2 so much that I quit completely) because several people recommended Punisher to me, and I loved it and tipped over into the fandom for it -- I still think Punisher season 1 is perhaps the best-written of all the Netflix shows, and caught up on all the other ones, and Iron Fist (specifically the sibling dynamics and the emotional aspects) happened to hit a few of my specific happy buttons really, really hard.
2019
This year has been mostly Iron Fist with a side of Agent Carter, Stranger Things (kinda drifted away from that one after season 3), Punisher and the other Netflix shows, and a little bit of Alliance-Union and general MCU.
Right now, I'm still enthusiastic about the Netflix shows, starting to get into certain corners of the MCU movies a little bit more, and renewing my fondness for Agent Carter yet again; I think I might be about due for a rewatch. Oh, and I rewatched Wiseguy with
rachelmanija and
scioscribe (first watch for both of them; I last rewatched it in 2009) and found it just as good as I remembered! So that's a thing now, too.
Personally speaking, I started to list all the people I became friends with or met person this decade, but ... it's a LOT, and I realized I would feel terrible for forgetting anyone, and guilty for leaving people out. But it was a little startling to realize that nearly everyone I'm friends with now, including people I talk to almost every day, I became friends with, or got to know better, or met in person for the first time in the last decade. I'm so happy you are in my life, and I'm glad I met you (online or in person) and hope we'll have many more memories for another decade-in-fandom post in another ten years.

The Highlander watchalong was so much fun. I think it started in 2009 but carried over to 2010. I can't believe it's been a decade, either!

Most of the rest of my decade was SPN followed by MCU :-) Maybe a little bit of WC, but I never really read fic in that fandom other than yours. SPN was really the first time I was mono-fannish for so long, roughly 2005-2015. I think that's when I roughly watched AC and was super into it for 2 years. Let's see how long MCU can last. Even though I've been watching since IM1, and I read a ton of Stucky out of self-defense in TWS times, I didn't really fall for the movies fandom until CA:CW happened to me, heh. (I can't believe it's already been years!)

But, you know, different strokes, and if she hadn't taken off in popularity we'd never have had the show and you and I would probably never have had that ALL CHAT ALL THE TIME thing happen ... though who knows, maybe it would've in some other fandom.

LOLOL.

Well I wanted to read about Steve finding Bucky and the only way that was gonna happen in fic was with slash, so!
Later, I wanted to read Steve and Tony reconciling and the only way that was gonna happen in fic was with slash, so! (And that was all she wrote XD )

But yeah, this has been something of a decade, hasn't it? So glad you made so many friends, I've also made new friends online. It's one of the better sides of the internet!

I had a short flirtation with Wiseguy ... LAST decade. Didn't write for it, but I enjoyed the show and the fic!
Happy new decade!

I certainly enjoyed getting to know you/meeting you in this decade and would also raise a glass in toast to many more memories. <3

ETA: I just realized you changed your username! I kept thinking I'd written it wrong above, and trying to change it but it wouldn't change. XD

That's an impressive list! So much fandom. It helps that it's covering a long span of time but it does put into perspective how much of our lives we spend finding joy in these things.
(I seriously can't remember what happened in what year, except that near the start of the decade I had a Very Bad Incident that had me purging everything and starting over again, so I don't exactly like thinking about it. But everything since then's been good!)
