I just discovered ...

... there's a Company War board game! It's based on Downbelow Station and came out in 1983, which means I'm sure my odds of finding a playable copy are minimal, but still. I want it.

Mayfair did a whole bunch of authorized games around then—I used to have the Darkover one, I’ve seen the Pern one being played, and a friend of mine is trying to get rid of the Thieves’ World one right now. They often weren’t great as games, but they did a pretty solid job of theming/atmosphere. If I see this one floating around in person, I’ll snag it—or it looks like there’s some copies for sale on Board Game Geek right now at not terribly unreasonable prices: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/3376/company-war.
