One of the people on the Iron Fist discord went to a con with Finn Jones this weekend and apparently he talked about what season 3 of Iron Fist would’ve been, and I’m just DYING OF FANDOM DISTRESS now, because it sounds like it would have been literally everything I wanted. I'll just quote what they said in the chatroom:

"He [Finn] knew a lot of what would happen in s3 and said the best way to describe it was a buddy movie. It would’ve basically been him and Ward having the time of their lives in Asia because he feels that up until now Danny has been pretty serious whilst trying to find himself and that now he would’ve been truly comfy with who he is, it was time for him to relax and just enjoy life with his brother. Colleen would’ve been in NY still but their paths would’ve merged again."

(There's no confirmation of this, but also, with Danny being in Asia for an extended period of time in the show, I assume Colleen would probably have had her own storyline going on with Misty and the IF and basically coming into her own as a superhero at the same time; they were good enough about not sidelining her in the previous seasons that I can't believe they would just stuff her into a box in S3.)

That's just ... Danny and Ward getting to hang out and bond and live their best lives in Asia, and actually have fun and relax after everything’s been so serious and dark for the last couple of seasons, would have been my absolute best-case scenario, and I never thought they’d go there - I would’ve been happy (and would have expected, honestly) like a 10-minute mini-adventure at the start of the first episode before it was then back to the usual New York setting for whatever the actual plot turned out to be.

…. BUT NO, apparently everything the end of the season hints at would actually have been the next season, and I thought I was over being completely gutted by the cancellation but NOPE.

Yes, that was about my reaction too. I'm still delighted with the ending we got, but oh, the lost potential.

I gotta say, whatever M. Raven Metzner (the showrunner for season 2) does next, I will be there with bells on, unless it looks absolutely terrible. His id and mine appear to line up with a remarkable amount of synchronicity.

Or if they'd said that season 3 of AC would have involved Jack moving into Howard's mansion, Daniel effectively living with Peggy there, and entire episodes that were just all the mansion residents hanging around together. Nnngggghhhh.
