Dramatic skies

Pink-edged clouds in the sky to the north at midnight-thirty.
We had a really gorgeous 360-degree sunset tonight - it's a thing that can happen in the summer, when the sun sets in the north but due to its low angle, you get pink light on the clouds all the way around the sky. (Well, okay, not so much to the south, but all around the rest of the sky.) Here was the view to the east, not a place you normally expect to see a sunset:

The sun will rise again in about 3.5 hours.

Do the short nights affect people's sleep patterns?

I like it light late - but then I'm a night owl. I'm not sure how I would deal with the winter - no light though!
When I went on a bus trip to the UK after college in the summer... and it was LIGHT till past 10pm - and we were like - Awesome! More time to do things... and EVERYTHING closed at like 5pm. Whaaaa! It was so disappointing, every attraction and store, closed. From someone from a big city where hours are often till 9pm, it was so wild and strange and I wished there was more to see and do, but stuck as we were I remember it being frustrating.

Also, this line: The sun will rise again in about 3.5 hours.
WTF. Between this and NO REPTILES, I keep being boggled that Alaska is a real place.
