The noms were actually last spring, so it's a slightly older batch of fic. Kind of a cool trip down memory lane, actually! It's a little startling to realize that I haven't written anything long in a year.

I'm kinda bummed, I admit -- not only did I not win any (it didn't help that the fic I liked best out of what was nominated from my stuff was dropped out of the running because they said there were "already too many stories in that category", even though there were other categories that had twice as many entries ... *scratches head*) but very few of the stories I *voted* for won either (yours being the happy exception). Actually, that's how the McShep Awards had turned out for me too. I must have very different tastes on the whole than most of the fans. XD

I'm sorry you didn't win, and I know what it feels like to be slightly out of step with fandom in personal tastes -- I think that's true of me in slash/ship fic in general, because the sort of pairing fic I go for is usually not the kind that's sweepingly popular. But in any case, I'm really sorry that it didn't turn out well for you -- but there's always next year!
